We’ve been digging into the history of Roy, NM and the old Dawson Railway — and came across this fascinating article by Nick Pappas about the deadly 1922 derailment on the line that once ran between Tucumcari and Dawson. 🚂 (Even ordered a copy of his book)

https://nickpappasbooks.com/the-story-behind-dawson-railways-deadly-derailment-of-1922/

The “Polly Train” made regular stops right here in Roy, often breaking for lunch at one of two cafés that once sat within a block of the tracks. We can’t help but wonder if our building might have served a few travelers back in those days.

We’re busy collecting old photos, maps, and stories to feature inside the Inn — so if anyone has old photos, memories, or clippings from Roy’s railroad era, we’d love to hear from you.

History has a funny way of hiding in plain sight out here on Highway 39. Let’s see what we can uncover together. 🤠

You don’t want to miss this rare phenomenon. It’s like spotting the northern lights… or a leprechaun.

Voting or not, don’t miss out on their lifechanging navajo tacos! 🌮
