Six new ducklings arrived at Rumsey House. These babies are very different to the touch, compared to chicks. My daughter Jill says they feel spongy. Indeed they do. They are just learning to find their swimming pool and how to get in and out. Lots of splashing and feet scrambling furiously. They will help me w**d and provide eggs for breakfast, along with my hens.
I bought my children furry stuffed baby animals for Easter one year. My son Clive received a baby platypus, beaked and with its cute paddle feet. It was oddly colored yellow. My son loved "Platty" into his teen years. I had an awakening when I first held my baby ducks and realized the stuffed platypus had been intended to be a duckling. It was more fun thinking of it as an exotic platypus!
