SRBX Women in Construction Conference 👷‍♀️

There’s something pretty powerful about walking into a room filled with women who are building careers, businesses, teams, and the future of this industry.
Today has been all about leadership, collaboration, and people—learning how to better support the teams around us, lead with intention, and create stronger partnerships along the way.

Bellefield Transmission Line Project // Next time you see a construction project, look close—you might be surprised by what’s making the work possible.

🔺 PROBLEM
Renovation and construction work on 21 transmission towers across seven remote Mojave sites required safe access to elevated work zones. High winds, dust storms, harsh weather, active roadways, and complex tower configurations made conventional access methods, including bucket trucks, difficult and unreliable.

🔶 SOLUTION
SkyLine designed and installed custom scaffold access systems for each tower and site, including cantilevered platforms and specialized decking to accommodate complex geometries. Every system was engineered for winds up to 80 mph and shrink-wrapped to fully enclose the work areas, protecting crews and materials from wind, dust, rain, and intermittent snow.

🔷 RESULTS
The custom access systems provided safe, reliable, weather-protected work platforms across all 21 transmission towers. By maintaining required clearances and creating stable working conditions in a challenging desert environment, SkyLine helped crews efficiently complete critical structural and electrical upgrades while keeping the project moving without interruption.

When protecting the plants is part of the job🌱 On this project, “protect the landscaping” was a requirement, not a consideration. So, we didn’t just build scaffolding around the work area—we built a five-star protective structure for the plants!

Rocky Creek Seawall & Bridge // Next time you see a construction project, look close—you might be surprised by what’s making the work possible.
🔺PROBLEM
A major landslide on Highway 1 at Rocky Creek Bridge damaged the coastal seawall approximately 170 feet below the roadway. The extreme terrain, lack of ground access, steep cliff face, tidal conditions, high winds, and marine environment created significant challenges for crews performing emergency infrastructure repairs.
🔸SOLUTION
SkyLine constructed a custom stair tower access system extending from the tidal zone at the base of the cliff to the underside of the Highway 1 viaduct structure and Rocky Creek Bridge above. At 170 feet in height, this system ranks among the tallest coastal scaffold installations deployed on any California Department of Transportation emergency repair project. The scaffold system was engineered to meet several demanding criteria, including:
• Structural capacity for workers, materials, and equipment
• Stability in a marine environment exposed to wind, waves, and corrosion
• Full Cal/OSHA compliance, including guardrails, fall protection, and safe vertical access
• Integration with rope-access crews and crane-delivered materials
🔹RESULTS
The completed access system provided safe, reliable access for workers, materials, and heavy equipment throughout the emergency repairs. Engineered for Cal/OSHA compliance and the demanding coastal conditions, the system enabled crews to restore critical Highway 1 infrastructure safely and efficiently—demonstrating SkyLine’s ability to deliver complex access solutions in extreme environments.

We’re proud to celebrate our SkyLine Scaffold CEO David Johnson, who was honored with the SAIA Coupling Pin Award at the Scaffold & Access Industry Association’s National Convention in Nashville, Tennessee! The Coupling Pin Award is one of SAIA’s longstanding association honors, recognizing a member who has demonstrated exemplary service and exceptional dedication to the Association. It celebrates the people who give their time, expertise, leadership, and passion to strengthen the scaffold and access industry.

David has been a dedicated contributor to SAIA for years, serving on the Board of Directors, participating in the Supported Scaffold Council, contributing to CPT Supported content development, serving as a SAIA Accredited Training Institute instructor, and helping develop industry resource documents. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento celebrated a significant milestone on June 6, dedicating the first eight homes in the new Sayonara housing community in Citrus Heights. The project, Habitat’s largest development in its 40-year history and first affordable homeownership community in Citrus Heights, will ultimately provide 26 homes for nearly 120 residents. The all-electric, energy-efficient homes feature solar battery storage, EV charging capabilities, and drought-tolerant landscaping, helping create sustainable and affordable housing opportunities for local families. Each homeowner contributed more than 500 hours of volunteer “sweat equity” and will purchase their home through Habitat’s affordable homeownership program.

SkyLine Scaffold is proud to support this remarkable project and Habitat for Humanity’s mission of creating opportunities for families to achieve the dream of homeownership. We are honored to play a role in helping build stronger communities and making homeownership a reality for hardworking families throughout the Greater Sacramento region.
