St. Augustine Florida Oldest Settlement of the United States St. Augustine is known as the US's oldest city, being settled by the Spanish in 1565. Much of St. Augustine Lighthouse.

Augustine is a coastal town which has escaped the development which much of Florida has experienced. The Castillo de San Marcos, built in 1695 is a popular attraction for visitors. Augustine's charm is seen in Flagler College, St. George Street, and the striped St. For beachgoers, Anastasia State Park with its powdery white sand is a favorite destination.
