Yes, we have alligators in Southport. Friendly reminder to stay alert, keep a safe distance, and NEVER feed or approach alligators, which are most active at dawn and dusk. Keep pets on leashes away from water edges, supervise children, and report to 9-1-1 any concerns or nuisance gators.

🛑Keep Distance: Maintain a safe distance (at least 60 feet) if you see an alligator, as they are fast on land.

🛑Never Feed: Feeding alligators is illegal, dangerous, and causes them to lose their fear of humans.

🛑Pet Safety: Keep pets on a leash and away from the water's edge, as they can resemble natural prey.

🛑Swim Safely: Only swim during daylight hours and in designated areas.
