3 things we learned on our longest RV trip away from our home base… 🚐

1️⃣ Stop overplanning every location.
Some of our favorite days were the ones where we had absolutely nothing planned. Stay “home,” explore the little local town, grab food, find a playground, take a drive… sometimes the unplanned days are the best ones.

2️⃣ Go as SLOW as you possibly can.
Packing up your entire house, hooking up, driving, setting everything back up… and doing it all over again a few days later gets exhausting. 😅 We’d much rather stay longer and actually enjoy where we are.

3️⃣ You don’t have to see EVERYTHING.
This one was hard for us. When you travel somewhere new, you want to squeeze in every hike, attraction, restaurant and sightseeing spot. But trying to “do it all” can turn an amazing trip into a checklist.

Sometimes the best memories happen when you slow down enough to actually live there for a little while. ❤️

These are 4 things we added to our RV that we use everyday and LOVE🤍

🚽 Bidet — We never thought this would be an RV “must-have,” but once you have one, it’s hard to go back. 😂 It’s a simple upgrade that makes the bathroom feel a little more like home.

🏕️ Outdoor rug — This completely changed our outdoor space. It helps define our campsite, keeps dirt from getting tracked inside, and makes the area outside feel more like an actual outdoor living room.

🔑 Keyless entry lock — One of those upgrades you appreciate every single day. No more digging through your bag or pockets for keys when your hands are full or you’re coming back to the RV.

🏠 Wallpaper — RVs can start to feel very… RV-ish after a while. 😂 Adding wallpaper was an easy way to give our space more personality and make it feel less temporary and more like our home.

After years of moving from campground to campground, these little touches have made a huge difference in how our RV feels and functions.

5 things to do around Acadia + Bar Harbor that we absolutely loved 🌅🦞

⛳️ Golf of Maine — This family-owned mini golf course was such a fun stop with the kids and a great break from hiking.
📍Southwest Harbor

🌅 Sunrise at Seawall Picnic Area — Quiet, peaceful, and when we went, we were practically the only ones there. Such a beautiful way to start the day without the crowds.

🌄 Sunset at Cadillac Mountain — We tried… but a storm and fog had other plans. 😂 We even rented a car because our truck is too big for the Cadillac Mountain roads, and then couldn’t even use it for Cadillac Mountain. 🤦‍♀️ Definitely a reminder that Mother Nature gets the final say!
📍Acadia National Park

🥪 Picnic at Agamont Park — Grab sandwiches from Lunch near the Village Green, walk down toward Agamont Park, and eat with one of the best views in town. Then take some time to wander and shop downtown.
📍Bar Harbor

🦞 Lobster excursion + ice cream — We took a boat tour out of Southwest Harbor with Sail Acadia, where local lobstermen pulled traps and taught us all about lobstering. It was such a cool experience for the whole family! And of course, we had to finish with ice cream at Salt Shop. The Maine Black Bear flavor was AMAZING. 🍦🐻

What a year it’s been.

Maddie wrapped up her school year a little later than planned because we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring history to life. After finishing a civics unit on the Revolutionary War and our early presidents, we hit the road to explore Boston and Washington, D.C.—walking where history actually happened.

Rylyn’s year had an even bigger twist. She started in the 3-year-old daycare classroom last August, but when we began homeschooling on the road in January, she took off. By working ahead, she has officially completed Pre-K and is ready to start Kindergarten early!

Today we’re celebrating the last day of school surrounded by the the Adirondacks, and next week we’ll be kicking off a brand new school year next week visiting family and Niagara Falls.

This year reminded us that learning doesn’t have to happen inside four walls. Sometimes the best classroom is wherever the road takes you.

Here’s to another year of roadschooling, adventures, and making memories together. ❤️✏️🗺️

Acadia has no shortage of incredible hikes, but if you’re visiting with kids, these are the 5 we wouldn’t skip. 🥾🌲

✨ Jordan Pond Loop – A scenic, mostly flat walk around one of Acadia’s most iconic lakes.
🏔️ Gorham Mountain – One of the best summit hikes with amazing ocean views.
🌊 Bar Island – Walk across the ocean floor at low tide to a hidden island. Just don’t forget to check the tide chart!
🌅 Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse – A short walk to one of the most photographed spots in the park.
🔥 Beech Mountain Fire Tower – A short climb to a historic fire tower with panoramic views.

These hikes are fun, rewarding, and manageable for families—without needing to tackle Acadia’s most challenging trails.
