Come see us AND the Milky Way!

Now is a great time to view the Milky Way! You can see the Milky Way all year, but peak viewing season for our home galaxy (that is, when the galactic core is visible) is late March to late August.

And what better place to view it than Ozark National Scenic Riverways, with its exceptionally dark skies that are some of the darkest in the Midwest? Thanks to a lack of light pollution over much of the park, you can find several great places to get a clear view of the sky!

The best viewing times for the Milky Way are from 12:00 am to 5:00 am on nights with a new moon, but any clear night when the moon is below the horizon will still give you great views!
