Opening day of Trout Season 2026!

Jim and Jean Morton fired the gun to begin the season! Their families were pillars in the founding of Montauk. Both of their great grandparents bought the mill in 1903. One of them operated the mill while the other ran the general store. This year marks the 100th year of Montauk and the Morton’s are a special connection to the history of the park.

This was a special one for our family! The Mortons are also the original owners of Spring Road Cabins, now Pigeon Creek Cabins, built in 1987.

Restrictions Unless exempt, you need fishing permit as well as a daily trout tag from March 1 to October 31. The daily trout tag is $5 for adults and $3 for youth 15 and younger.
