Ashley Campground Memories 1972-2007 Ashley Campground. 11543 WV Rt. 23 12 Miles North of Salem, WV in Doddridge County. It was founded by our parents/grandparents, Dan & June Smith in 1972.

Campground located in rural Doddridge County, WV, on route 23, 12 miles North of Salem, West Virginia. The venue was sold after the passing of Dan Smith. The new owners made some electrical and sewage upgrades the first year that they bought it. They opened it to oil and gas workers after the upgrades were completed. It has once again been sold to someone that is going to use it for it's intended purpose. We wish them good luck with their new adventure.

We have some exciting news. Starting July 2025 we will be able to book tent campers without an RV* 🤗

*tent campers will have access to a toilet and a sink at the bathhouse in addition to full hook-ups at thier site. There will not be any showers available for the 2025 season.

It is with great sadness to inform the Ashley Campground family that Ellsworth Cork has passed away. Ellsworth and his family were long time supporters of Ashley Campground. Ellsworth not only taught his family to square dance but 3 generations of young and old alike. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

Tonight we say goodbye to this pillar of the community. Pat never came to the campground (unless it was to pick his kids and me up). However, Pat was well known and loved throughout Doddridge County.

He leaves behind three amazing children and numerous grandchildren. Ashby, his oldest was a well known figure in the Ashley family.

We wish the Cayton family our love and support.

Ashley Campground has been sold again as of June 13, 2024. The new owners are from out of state and it will be interesting to see what they do with the place.

Another loved one from the Ashley family has passed away. Glen was loved by all who met him. He was an entertaining singer and one of my favorite dance partner.

If you have any memories you would like to post if Glen we would love to read them!

It is important to note that this is a page of remembrance. It was created to share memories and reminisce with life long family friends. The page was created and is still ran by the children and grandchildren of Dan and June Smith, the original owners. The campground has been sold twice since my grandmother sold it.

We do NOT currently own or run the business. We cannot do more than that. We are unable to give you camping prices and we cannot book your event.
