Special message from Darlene Griffith (Rose Holland Derby Chairman AHA)
“Thank you to all that came out for the 62nd Rose Holland Trout Derby this past weekend. A total of $16,642 was raised for the American Heart Association. There were 54 tagged fish caught and the largest was a 6.1oz caught by Caden of Hazelwood, MO.
Special thanks to organizers of the Cruise In to Montauk event who as always have supported the cause by kicking off on Friday night!
This year the Derby had a couple of new events that were a big success. Pony rides were a new favorite for the kids. They also enjoyed the bounce house, slide, and getting to see the Montauk Fire Department’s Fire Engine (and being able to honk the horn).
For the adults and teens, we had the Inaugural Co****le Tournament sponsored by the DNR and MDC park staff. Special thanks for creating this great event and in being a partner in helping make the Rose Holland Derby special again this year! The Tournament had 20 teams enter and they won a lot of great prizes!
Kenzie and Chloe, our local face painters, were visited by young and old alike. Several dawned a trout on their cheek. A favorite sight was a father and son who had matching tiger faces.
Lastly, I want to give a heartfelt thanks to all that came out, participated, donated prizes, and/or volunteered to make this event special again this year!”
