Rowan County Parks and Recreation is updating its Comprehensive Master Plan to help guide future parks, facilities, programs, and investments, including improvements at Dan Nicholas Park. Your feedback will help the County better understand how residents use parks and recreation today and what should be prioritized for the future.

The survey should take about 10–12 minutes to complete, and we encourage you to participate even if you do not currently use Rowan County parks or recreation facilities.

Autumn Jubilee to Take Place Saturday; Sunday Events Cancelled

After carefully monitoring the latest weather forecast and anticipated park conditions, the 2026 Autumn Jubilee will take place on this Saturday, but Sunday’s activities have been cancelled.

This decision was not made lightly. While Autumn Jubilee is traditionally a rain-or-shine event, the expected rainfall may create conditions that could impact vendor operations and overall event experience.

We know this is disappointing and appreciate your understanding. Decisions like these must be made in advance to provide vendors, performers, volunteers, and staff with sufficient notice for travel and event planning.

We look forward to welcoming everyone on Saturday and encourage attendees to dress for the possibility of wet or muddy conditions.

For immediate release: Rowan County residents have an opportunity to help shape the future of local parks, trails, recreation facilities, programs, and services. Rowan County Parks and Recreation is developing a new Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan, including a focused improvement plan for Dan Nicholas Park.

Community input will play an important role in the planning process and help the County better understand residents' needs and priorities. Feedback collected through the survey will help guide decisions about parks and recreation investments over the next 10 years.
