Rowan County Parks and Recreation is excited to announce a partnership with Rowan County Tourism to enhance Dan Nicholas Park. Our goal is to ensure the park remains safe, well-maintained, and enjoyable for all residents and visitors. Rowan County Parks & Recreation is working with LandDesign, Inc. to develop a plan for future growth and implementation.

Two new trains are currently being manufactured, along with an expanded and improved track layout. As we move forward, we will seek public input on amenities, attractions, ticketing, and the overall visitor experience. Please watch for updates and opportunities to engage. Special thanks to Rowan County Tourism and the Rowan County Board of Commissioners for their support.

🇺🇸 AmeriFest 250: Know Before You Go!

We’re excited to celebrate AmeriFest 250 with you! Before you head out tomorrow, here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your day:

🕑 Park Access
Dan Nicholas Park will be closed until gates open at 2:30 PM; please plan your arrival accordingly.

⏰ Entry Cutoff
Gates will close to entry at 8 PM to ensure safety of guests as we set up for the drone show. Arrive early so you don’t miss out on the festivities!

📆 General Event Schedule
2:30 PM – Gates Open
3:00 PM - Live Music Begins
4:00 PM - Attractions Open
8:00 PM - Gates Close to Entry
9:15 PM - Drone Show

🪑 What to Bring
- Chairs or blankets are encouraged for comfortable viewing of the drone show.
- We are providing food vendors with access to WiFi to accept credit and debit cards, but it's always a good idea to bring cash just in case.

✅ Helpful Reminders
- Plan ahead for parking and arrival times. Shuttles will be running throughout the day.
- This is a pet-free event; service animals are always welcome.
- The park has picnic tables if you would like to bring your own food, or a variety of food vendors and park concessions will be
available on-site.
- AmeriFest 250 will be held rain or shine; however, the drone show may be delayed or postponed in the event of extreme wind or rain.
