Who We Are

A Utah Business Network Pioneer
The MountainWest Capital Network enjoys a unique position as the original, independent business networking group in Utah. For more than two-and-a-half decades, we have supported entrepreneurs, investors and allied professional services firms with real-time information about capital creation and distribution through sponsored events that inspire, stimulat

e and reward successful business performance as they build relationships. The Deal
Capital flow is our mission; rewarding business performance is our passion. Through our core events, MWCN members share their knowledge and donate their talents to serve the economic self-interests of themselves and fellow members. These events require an enormous amount of energy, time, skill and teamwork to organize and implement, and are performed by our members without compensation. Our Focus for the Future
Today's environment for business growth has changed radically since the MountainWest Capital Network (originally the MountainWest Venture Group) was founded in 1983, and still offers unprecedented opportunity. Our focus is to offer a unique synergy of intellectual, financial and entrepreneurial capital. We help our members meet and master business challenges through relevant events, education and networking.

Selling a business is not just about finding a buyer. It is about making sure that the buyer feels confident long before diligence ever starts.

In the latest MWCN Deal Flow article, Todd Gordon of CBIZ walks through what buyers actually notice when they look at a company, from clean financials and reduced key person risk to how well an owner has organized for diligence. The article lays out where owners should focus first, and why the businesses that sell smoothest are the ones that started preparing long before they went to the market.

Todd Gordon, Attest Practice Leader for CBIZ Salt Lake City, shares insight from decades of experience guiding companies through their process.

We’re grateful for their continued partnership and for providing a great space for this month’s forum.

One of Beehive Meals’ operations leaders started out printing shipping labels from her kitchen table, from five to eleven at night, after her own kids were in bed.

Allyse Jackson, founder and CEO of Beehive Meals, shares that story with Cheri M. Waldron and Jason Roberts as an example of the culture she’s built, one that looks for untapped talent in the people already closest to the business.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our August Business Forum with John Koelliker, CEO and Co-Founder of Leland!

John shared how Leland is going all in on becoming an “AI Native” company, canceling a full week of meetings to rethink how their team works from the ground up. His take on the moment we’re in: “2026 was the first year the models got good enough to really take substantial portions of the work that we do every day and start to do it for us.”

He also shared how to think about trust in AI when it gets things wrong: weigh the cost of being wrong. High stakes work still needs human experts checking it, but for lower risk tasks, AI + human review is a serious advantage.

🎙 This week on Welcome to the Winners’ Circle, Jason Roberts and Cheri M. Waldron sat down with Allyse Jackson, founder and CEO of Beehive Meals.

Beehive Meals started as a solution to a problem every busy family knows: getting a real, home cooked meal on the table without the time it takes to make one. Under Allyse’s leadership, that idea has grown into a company recognized three times on the Utah 100 and named among the nation’s top small businesses, all while she’s raising four young children of her own.

This one is about building something people trust, one meal and one hard decision at a time.
