Westminster And India - WAI Westminster and India is a catalyst for creating global minded leaders and sustainable projects through the empowerment of students and communities.

Westminster College of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, and the community of Wai, Maharashtra, India are working together to improve educational and economic opportunities and to promote cross cultural awareness. Our new mission statement is "Westminster and India is a catalyst for creating global minded leaders, developing sustainable partner based projects through the empowerment of students and commu

nities." Using the words, "Create ~Develop ~ Empower" we hope to emphasis the action and learning components of this international collaboration. Since 2009 members of the Westminster College community have collaborated with educational organizations in Wai, Maharashtra to develop ways for students on both continents to gain rich international learning experiences. With the mentorship of Dr. Ashok Joshi, a philanthropist in Salt Lake City, connections have been made, projects started in many schools of the rural area of Wai, and many students, faculty, and staff have developed a love of India in the process. Anyone associated with the program finds themselves transformed in some way. We welcome your participation and support!

Westminster In India will be engaging in a Micro loan project for women in a nearby village to Wai in Summer 2016. If you are interested, contact Steve Hurlbut in the Business School. Projects will also be happening in the the Jadhav Library and other schools under tthe direction of Kristi Jones in the Education Department. They both are excited to hear from you if you are interested in joining in the service learning opportunity next summer!!!!
