But let's be honest — this isn't about an award.

In the last 18 months, Western North Carolina has been through Hurricane Helene. Wildfires. An ice storm. Drought. Flooding.
One gut punch after another.

And every single time, this region got back up.

Week 2 of Tubing on the Green River is in the books — and what a week it was! The river is up and flowing steady, giving tubers an amazing float adventure.

We did get a heavy rain shower last night, but our campers didn’t miss a beat. Everyone kept their spirits high, and we were happy to help out the primitive tent campers who needed to dry off by getting them set up in one of our cozy Glamping tents.

Rain or shine, the adventure keeps going — and so does the summer. Follow along for weekly updates all season long!

Wilderness Cove Tubing is back for 2026!

What was supposed to be a buzzing opening weekend had other plans — heavy rain and storms kept us on pause. But this morning, the clouds broke and we launched our very first float of the season.

And what a launch it was.

Before this weekend, the Green River was running so low it was taking over four hours to complete our normal three-hour float. Today’s tubers? They made it in record time — just 2½ hours. The river is alive again. 🙌

We are so deeply grateful for the rain that ended what has been a very difficult drought. To everyone who sent prayers, good vibes, and yes — rain dances — thank you. You filled that river just in time.

Sometimes plans fall apart just so something better can fall into place.

A few of our guests booked primitive camping this Memorial Day weekend — but when the rain rolled in, we made sure they were taken care of. A little upgrade, a glamping tent, and suddenly the rain wasn’t a problem — it was the ambiance.

Cozy beds, canvas walls, and the sound of rain all weekend long. That’s the kind of memory that sticks.

We love when we can turn an “uh oh” into an “oh wow.”
