Although I no longer live on Hatteras and sold Sea la Vie all is good in Salvo and Rodanthe. Avon, as usual, flooded badly, though. Thanks to all my former friends and guests who ask about us! MISS YOU ALL!

Last sunset posted from Sea la Vie. We have great memories and all of our amazing guests, especially those who came so often.You are the very best part of those memories. Please stay in touch.Though I have sold my Hatteras home there very well may be a Sea la Vie in Florida's future. Love and thanks to each of you.

On THURS Visitors are allowed back on the island. The trivillage area is pretty unaffected (only down South on the island as always has problems) I have rooms available next week if you want a fall retreat on Hatteras. Fishing is reported by Rodanthe Pier to be good and surf's UP! I love fall here. Bird watching on the Charles Karult trail has been interesting following the storm.

Weekends are fully booked through second weekend of Oct but lots of weekdays are available at great rates! Weather is absolutely fantastic. We will see what happens Tues with Gaston/ fingers crossed it won't be bad.

Although I am fully booked through July I have some rooms available for Aug and Sept and Oct We are the very best value on the island. You can use the pool, hot tub, kayak, bikes, fishing gear, SUP, Grills and more even if you only book a room. Consider booking a floor for privacy and value for small groups. Location, location, location! Center of the island, easy to get to the ferry OR to KDH for a night out (everything closes by 9 pretty much on our island and we like it that way. We make a bon fire on the beach with friends and family and that's a big night on Hatteras Island)

Both Bodie and Hatteras Lighthouse are now open for climbing to the top now!

Common Bodie Island Lighthouse questions we get are "Does the lighthouse still function?" and "What time does the lighthouse come on?"

The Bodie Island Lighthouse certainly does still function! The lighthouse utilizes a photocell sensor, which detects light levels outside the tower. When those levels go below a predetermined threshold, the lighthouse comes on automatically. Consequently, the lighthouse does not turn on at a particular time, but rather adjusts to changing weather patterns. If a storm rolls in and light decreases significantly, Bodie Island Lighthouse will illuminate during the day—like in this photo.
