Air Force interesting facts…

119 years ago, on Aug. 1, 1907, the U.S. Army established the Aeronautical Division within the Signal Corps, creating the Army's first organization dedicated to military aviation.

With just one officer and two enlisted Soldiers, the division was responsible for "all matters pertaining to military ballooning, air machines and kindred subjects." That modest beginning laid the foundation for today's Army Aviation and eventually the U.S. Air Force.

From balloons to Black Hawks, the Army has embraced innovation for more than a century.
