and I had a great time at the 61st Annual Isa Beefmasters Bull Sale! We were especially excited and thankful to bring home this young 18 month old sired by L Bar 6105 who is now owned by Garrett-Shaye Wilson Wilson Farms Beefmasters in Missouri. 2 of his half brothers topped this incredible sale. We decided to call him Wilson, he tops the EPDs for calving ease & marbling, and will be a great addition to our commercial replacement heifer program at the Fite Ranch!

The Queen Bee! This 15 year old L Bar sired cow sets the standard for the commercial replacement females we produce. She is hardy & easily fleshes out keeping her fertile under drought conditions (0.5” of precipitation in the last 273 days). This is her 13th calf raised at the Fite Ranch! She has definitely earned her place leading !

Drought conditions are probably our biggest hurdle at the Fite Ranch. We have had 0.5” of moisture since August. Beefmaster cattle thrive in harsh conditions & continue to amaze me with their ability to flesh out & raise a solid calf with dry winter forage.

First thing people say about ranches in the Jornada del Mu**to desert is “what do they eat?!” These coming 2 year old heifers know what’s good! It’s getting harder every year to pick a favorite! Looking forward to seeing their first calves this spring!

Today marks the start of calving season at the Fite Ranch with this little beauty. are known for their fertility. Herd sires from Isa Beefmasters and were turned out with the cows 283 days ago...the average time of gestation for cows is 283 days. Based on the ultrasounds I did this fall, the majority of the cows will have their calves within a 60 day window, so this little gal is the start of a baby boom!
