Today’s announcement is one of the favorites we’ve made in a long while. The passion one. The giddy one. ⁠

SDM and CH Projects have started a book club. Because we love the almighty profanity out of books, and no one ever died thinking, "I should've read less." ⁠
⁠
We’re partnering with some of San Diego’s great independent bookstores, hoping our literary scheme will drive you into their lovely arms. Indie bookstores are the marrow in a city’s bones. Sentence churches. Long thoughts from thinkers. Ray Bradbury’s in there. Toni Morrison, too. Vonnegut, Didion, some unfamous person who wrote like a hurricane for one book and then vanished, great voices the world hasn’t yet discovered. ⁠

In a modern age where we do what the bloop and bleep tells us, books are Airbnbs for your brain. ⁠
⁠
We are not above bribery to do our part in this book revolution. If you join our club, and show proof that you bought it from a participating local, indie bookstore—each month we’ll randomly select one member to get a $300 gift card to any of the  locations (Craft & Commerce, Seneca, Born & Raised, Ironside, Neighborhood, etc.). ⁠

- Ensuring customer satisfaction by scheduling wake-up-calls and other concierge activities according to guest preference

- Managing and updating all official documentation pertaining to the role
- Ensuring that all end-of-day activities have been successfully executed by employees in all departments

SUMMARY:
The Rooms Division Manager is responsible for Front Office, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Engineering of an intimate hotel in the heart of Little Italy. In this role, you will have the ability to make a positive impact and lead a team that is dedicated to providing warm, genuine hospitality to the guests, the staff and the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Rooms Division Manager duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Ensure that sufficient staffing is present to meet daily business demands.
· Maintain consistent and effective flow of communication between shifts.
· Actively participate in training and continuing education of all team members so they provide genuine service and hospitality to everyone.
· Have the ability to work well under pressure and to remain calm during difficult situation.
· Responsible for actively recruiting and interviewing for all roles within the hotel.
· Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a professional and personalized manner.
· Ensure you are reliable and can show up to work and maintain regular attendance in compliance La Pensione Hotel Standards.
· Have the ability to work various hours according to the needs of the Hotel operation.
· Must have a professional image and personality exuding confidence and leadership skills whilst encouraging safe and efficient hotel operations.
· Understand and communicate hotel enhancements effectively with team members and guests.
· Serve as a general guest information source.
· Build rapport with guests, distinguished visitors; es**rt guests to rooms as necessary, encourage feedback throughout their stay.
· Offer to handle special arrangements during guest stay; coordinate future visits.
· Maintain database of guest preferences, habits, special dates through the PMS System
· Assist with additional Front Desk tasks.
· Oversee Housekeeping to ensure room standards are being met before turning room ready for guest usage.
· Oversee inventory and ordering supplies and linens for both housekeeping and Front office.
· Effectively oversee the Engineering team and act as a resource to troubleshoot and provide solutions to areas of concern.
· Complete projects in a timely manner as required by Ownership.

The Engineer duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Maintain the physical functionality and safety of the facility including, but not limited to, guest rooms, public space and heart-of-house areas.
• Respond to guest calls and team member work orders in a timely, friendly and efficient manner to assess and repair non-functioning machinery and/or equipment.
• Perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks including, but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and HVAC work.
• Conduct inspections for preventive maintenance needs.
• Record and report completed repairs and items that require further attention.
• Record all work orders and calls in the daily log.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Assist with other departments within the hotel, including laundry, and housekeeping.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
