Today marks two meaningful anniversaries for Shalimar and Sanibel.
Four years ago, Hurricane Ian changed our island forever. One year ago today, after three years of rebuilding, Shalimar reopened its doors and welcomed guests back to the beach.
Over these past four years, we have watched Sanibel’s homes, businesses and beloved gathering places return piece by piece. Our family is deeply grateful to see how far the island community has come and so proud to be part of its recovery.
Thank you to the neighbors, friends and community members who encouraged and supported us throughout the rebuilding process. To the longtime guests who waited for our return, the new guests who discovered us over the past year, and everyone who has shared in Shalimar’s first year back: your support has meant more than we can say.
Today, we remember all that was lost, celebrate how much has returned, and look ahead with gratitude.
