Update for the friends of Blue Pelican.
The storm surge was not as bad as they were predicting. We think we had about 3 to 4 feet across the property but it recede quickly. Much better than the 8' to 12' forecasted. And again, not too much sealife or mud in it. Landscape lights and lawn ornaments are trashed. A very kind neighbor took some pics for us. Thank you so much Ali.
It looks like we did not lose much, but, see if you can spot what we gained.....

Hurricane Milton Update 1.
Good for us, the eye has moved North and making landfall closer to Sarasota and Tampa. Bad new is we are now bracing for storm surge between now and high tide at 5:00 AM We just lost cameras at 5:00 PM so here was out last look at the rebuilt yard. We need 18 hours of prayer for all in that area.

Our guard-dog in residence Ms. Maisie is loving her perch on the new rug. It helps her look out through the replacement window that had been taken out by Hurricane Ian.

She says it’s her “favorite place in the house. When mom leaves, I can see her go and return. Plus, from here I can also keep a real eye on the street, and watch out for my boyfriend, Winston, who lives across the street.”

We are so happy to have Ms. Maisie back on duty at the Blue Pelican.

It took the full year of clean up, rebuild and recovery but it looks like we are finally ready to reopen for business. Joe had a successful trip down to Sanibel over thanksgiving week to finish all the rough repairs and get things ready to host our amazing guests at a level we all expect.

Big shout out to those who helped get us to this point. Cottages to Castles, SanCap Home Services and especially Donnell Anderson who drove 7 hours to spend a week helping with the finish and paint work, along with a whole lot of sweeping. YOU ARE THE BEST BUDDY!
