Howdy friends and campers. I have tried to post up the gate closures and openings at first crossing whenever it changed, but last weekend it was closed and opened many times in the same day!! I do not wish to even try to keep up with all that. I think for the most part it should be closed but those that have been able to open gate and go through tend to leave the gate open and not shut it behind themselves. Not good. If it's closed when you open it to go through, obviously you should then re close it behind you. It is for safety reasons that it shut.
Anyway, it is now shut AND locked. Anyone with a key better be locking it back up. It is too deep and way too muddy for a lot of cars to go safely across it. So, for the weekend as far as I am concerned, the gate is closed at 1st crossing. No access to Upper Oso, Lower Oso, or River Road to Red Rock.
All Upper Oso reservations have been moved to Los Prietos campground.
Any questions or help needed, come to Paradise campground.
Also White Rock is now open, the right side of the entrance gate only.
After the rain, We are seeing a lot of green coming up everywhere. 😃👍🏼

We are now employed by the new to our area, concessionaire company, Parks Management. Logos are different but thankfully all of my wonderful camp hosts and myself remain. 😀
We are looking forward to doing some great things here with our new company and want to Thank them for taking such good care of us from day 1 by supplying us with tools, equipment, and trucks. We are all stepping up to the plate!

Be happy and well. Enjoy the changing of the seasons!

We are at the heart of the Rey fire burning in the Santa Barbara area of the Los Padres National Forest.
Paradise Road is under a full evacuation order until further notice, and that includes all campgrounds and recreational areas.
THANK YOU FIREFIGHTING HEROES AND ANGELS FOR THE AMAZING JOB THAT YOU DO!!!
Thank you also to Lake Cachuma for being so kind in hosting our evacuees. You rock!

So, the word around the campgrounds is that level 4 fire restrictions will be coming very soon. If your wondering, level 4 restrictions mean that campground campfires will NOT be allowed. No charcoal either. No candles.
What will be allowed, is anything propane.
Check back on campground page for updates on the fire restriction info.
Otherwise, the campgrounds have all been filling up on the weekends so if you don't have a reservation, get here as early as you can for walk up sites.
Weather has been pretty fabulous for this time of year.
We are welcoming our new Los Preitos camp hosts, Darryl and Amanda. We are so glad to have them on board for the remainder of the season. 😃👍🏼
Go out and make it a great day!

Good morning and Happy Friday!
It is looking to be a hot and busy at the campgrounds this weekend. Temps in the upper 90's and all the reserved sites are booked.
Available sites are the first come first serve sites until they are full. There are a few first come first serve sites at each of these campgrounds; Fremont, Paradise, Upper Oso, and Los Prietos.
Campfires are allowed but have to be super low, never left unattended, and have to be put out with water!
Hope a good weekend for all!

Perfect weather here for the past couple of weeks and should continue through the weekend. Mid to upper 80's. Perfect!
All reservable sites booked for the weekend so available sites are the 1st come 1st serve sites. The earlier you get here for one the better your chances are.
8 people per site including children. $20.00/night including 1 car pass. All additional cars must purchase a $5.00 per night extra car pass from the camp host. Dogs must be leashed in the campgrounds and picked up after! No hot water, showers, or hook ups.
Extreme fire danger warnings! This means your campfire needs to be VERY SAFE! Very low and flames not much higher than the rim. And NOTHING STICKING OUT. Wood must fit completely down inside the fire pit ring. Any sites having unsafe fires will lose their campfire privileges for the remainder of their stay.
There is an annual foot race in the canyon all weekend so drive carefully and keep an eye out for the runners. They will be on the roads anytime day or night.
Lots of yellow jackets and knat flies so feel free to bring traps to hang in your area.
Swimming holes still pretty good. All trails are open.
Hope a good weekend for all!!

The Sherpa fire is out. All is good at the campgrounds. If you consider 108 degrees good! It's been HOT HOT HOT the past few days but looking to cool down some by the weekend. All reservable sites booked for the holiday weekend and 1st come 1st serve sites won't be around for long.
The river is dry and the swimming holes are getting 'less fresh' everyday.
As of today, campfires are still allowed but it is our hope that they will be banned before the weekend. If they are, anything propane is allowed.
There are NO FIREWORKS of any kind allowed on Paradise Rd. S.B. Sheriff will be in the area.
We get a lot of campers who bring their dogs to avoid the fireworks, I am looking forward to see some of my doggie friends from last year!
All cars must have a car pass. Adventure pass for day use, and a campground car pass for all cars attached to a campsite. See campground hosts for both, also the kiosk at 1st crossing will be open to sell Adventure passes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Whatever you do, have a safe and happy 4th of July and remember, our country is far from perfect, but it is sure better than many others!

So we are still not in any danger from the Sherpa fire. And we are so very Thankful!! Our thoughts go out to all those who have been directly affected and to all the Firefighting personal who are working long hours in such horrible conditions. Thank you, and God Bless You!
It has been very hot the past couple days here at the campgrounds. Over 100. Sheesh! It does look like it is going to cool down over the next few days.
Campfires are allowed in the campfire pits ONLY. Obviously they need to be small and low. Host can revoke fire privileges of anyone having an unsafe fire. Bbq stands are for charcoal ONLY! No wood, and you CAN NOT bring any freestanding charcoal grills from home. You can only use the ones provided in the campgrounds and day use areas. You can bring any kind of propane cooking appliances. Also, NO CANDLES or flames of any kind other than campfire of course.
First come first serve sites available for the weekend.
Hope you are having a great day!
