Today I tested the Damage Repair & Color Care line from Japan and honestly, this is a great example of how Japanese mass market haircare often focuses more on sensorial performance and hair feel than flashy claims.

The marketing talks about rice extracts, botanical repair, cuticle sealing, and color care… but from a formulation standpoint, the real stars here are the conditioning agents, cationic polymers, fatty alcohols, and amodimethicone doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes.

The result?
Softness, shine, smoother cuticles, reduced friction, better combability, and less frizz on damaged hair.

Platinum beige without going grey, here’s the part most people miss😭😭😭

Everyone tries to cancel warmth…
but if you remove all warmth, the fade goes green.

So I actually added a touch of red back into the formula to keep the tone balanced over time.

This client was a deep cherry red 6 months ago😱😱😱
and we got here with shine, integrity, and zero muddiness using my technique.

Thankful to .education .japan for making a no brown base oxidative hair color that doesn’t go muddy or dull, I’m forever addicted to see what I did there??? 🫣😬😝

A lil bit of my airplane skincare/Korea vlog 😜
The cleansing melts were awesome, I love the lip mask and Water bank moisturizer, the relax roll-on aromatherapy is my go to for any anxiety causing situations, like flying. This was my first time trying the bio collagen real deep mask and it did real deep made my skin amazing 🤩

The most wonderful travel besties and helped made this trip beyond remarkable, we had soooooo much fun🤗🤗🤗

She is an educator, mentor, SCC contributor, 2017 Chapter Merit Award recipient, Kent State University Board member, HAPPI columnist (Dear Valerie) , and co-host of The Beauty Brains podcast that if you never listened you need to go rn!

This is when I’m reminded why specializing in a specific hair type, and going deep into hair chemistry + hair morphology, truly matters.

Understanding how hair is built, and staying curious about new products, formulas, and technologies completely changes how I can support a client through damage, color, and recovery without sacrificing healthy color results.

Natural dark hair can be ash brown, even ash blonde without looking brassy or ending up looking fried or feeling like chicken tenders 😭😭😭

If you have natural dark hair and on any attempt to get it to look ash brown you end up looking auburn or red or copper🤷‍♂️
