We are so thrilled to honor Pastor Dan and Nurse Lisa for 25 years of wonderful ministry at Camp Cherokee! Cherokee Staff and campers from the past quarter century were able to be at camp to present a plaque and cake in recognition and dedication of Pastor Dan and Nurse Lisa. Pastor Dan arrived in August 1998 with his family, Nurse Lisa, and three children: Andrew (9), Anthony (6), and Amanda (4).
The ministry of Pastor Dan and Nurse Lisa have had a huge impact on campers and staff through the past two and a half decades as God continues to work through these incredible individuals keeping Cherokee going strong and flourishing. Since Pastor Dan arrived, Cherokee’s operations have been financially even for 24 years, hundreds of college-age staff have shared the gospel to thousands of campers, 3 cabins have been completely rebuilt (Roost, Hilltop 3/Hemlock, Hilltop 2/Birch), 2 cabins have been remodeled (Sunset, Pines), both boys’ and girls’ bathhouses have been completely remodeled, Adirondack-style porches have been added to four buildings (Herrington Lodge, Ramos Chapel, Hoffman Cafeteria, Camp Office), the Foote Lodge was constructed to house the camp director and special guests, the maintenance sheds (now building) was completely rebuilt, and the Whitlow Pavilion was built in 2018 and dedicated in 2020.
No amount of text could add up the impact that God has had on the New York Conference youth and Camp Cherokee through the tireless and dedicated work of both Pastor Dan and Nurse Lisa. We thank them so much for their ministry to Cherokee, Pathfinders, and all youth.
We hope to have many more years with Pastor Dan and Nurse Lisa through their ministry in the New York Conference. 25 years is a long time and we wanted to take a moment simply to say “thank you”. (This recognition took place on 29 July 2023 at Camp Cherokee.)
