My dad worked tirelessly on his little peach and berry farm near Mena. The four oldest grandkids, Jeff, Jenny, Josh and Matt spent several summers there helping out. I think he would be proud of what we have been able to do with our little slice of earth here at Three Oaks! I love the feeling of seeing things grow due to my efforts! Three Oaks hosted our biggest party yet Friday night! Two grandkids graduated high school and four generations gathered to congratulate them! We got some sprucing up done and had some great Italian cuisine. I am ready to do it again but not until I rest! 😂. Congratulations Emmah and Autumn!

I may be late to the party (wouldn’t be the first time!) but I just discovered these great little DIY coffee pods! You can fill these cups and snap the lid closed and have them ready whenever you want them! I am sure you could do the same with your favorite tea or other hot beverages. Not expensive and so handy! I am loving them!

Good Monday morning, friends! When we first bought this place with all the wonderful space and trees, I envisioned a treehouse for the grands. Danny and Gene decided it needed to be the treehouse of their dreams so it has been a long time coming! 😂. This weekend, with the help of Jeff and Gene, the walls and roof went up! It is made steel and preformed insulated panels and the outside will be sided with rough logs. Door and windows coming soon and it will be ready for occupancy and making memories! Country living is the best!!

OMG, you guys! This soup ticks all the boxes- creamy, slight heat, moist chicken, corn…. Maybe because it is sleeting outside. Maybe because I was hungry. Maybe it's the fire roasted poblano peppers. It's been cold outside and combined with a busy work schedule, not too much has been going on recently here at Three Oaks! The holiday rush has subsided and clearing the aftermath has been all-consuming! A friend posted this and it so fits me, I had to share! I always say that when someone says, "Do you want to...?" I say yes before they finish their sentence 😂. Replace skateboard in the meme with roller skate, standup paddle board, zip line, go kart, explore a cave, white water rafting, and a plethora of other crazy activities and I have been there, done that, and outgrown the tee shirt!! Greetings, dear friends!! It’s a dreary winter day here at Three Oaks. Rain and 32 degrees and dropping. The forecast is for snow within the next few hours. But we have a fire, vegetable soup and venison chili and all is well!! 😊. Bring it, Winter!!

It is smelling wonderful here at Three Oaks, Sardis AR! I have been on a bread baking kick! This most recent is a light wheat and it is a hit with the taste testers! A few days ago I used the sourdough starter and tried a tomato herb, a spinach Asiago, jalapeño cheddar and cinnamon swirl. They are all yummy!! I am considering selling some about once per week. Would anyone be interested?

Greetings, Three Oaks, Sardis AR friends and family! I apologize for the long pause in posts. We had a heartbreaking occurrence here on October 29 and it literally took the heart out of me for sharing. Almost our entire flock of chickens were viciously killed at night, while locked what should have been safely in their roosts for the night. A creature, almost certainly a big dog, scratched and clawed his way into the coop and killed 13 of our flock and left them. They were killed for sport, not for food. I am sorry this is so graphic but I needed to explain so I can begin enjoying sharing again. Meanwhile, the old rooster Rusty has used one more of his nine lives and somehow survives! 😂. Screech, the new alpha rooster, is sporting a few less tail feathers but he is fine and still proud of himself! The two surviving babies, Miss Scarlet O’Hara and Ravenclaw, are getting big and doing great! We will build the flock again when we can provide a more secure place for them. Thanks for your understanding! More to come!
