It’s sweater weather now everywhere. Well, everywhere that counts, which is mostly in the Hudson Valley. That’s your sign that it’s not too early to start thinking about winter weekend escapes. Book a table for eight somewhere, or figure out one big meal at home? In my family, we always vote for the second one. A kitchen built for real cooking, enough stove space for three things happening at once, and a farmhouse table that fits the whole crew, makes that meal the part everyone remembers. Someone’s on onions, someone’s arguing about how much garlic is too much, someone’s pouring w**e before the pasta’s even in the water. That’s the part a reservation can’t give you back. Next trip, skip dinner out. Cook it together instead. (Oh, and at Lilac House when you arrive, you will find some of my favorite organic pancake mix, genuine maple syrup, and a waffle iron to bring it all together. My gift to you.❤️🥞)
