🚢 Soo Locks Opening Day is Almost Here!

After a winter break for maintenance, the Soo Locks will officially reopen on March 25 at 12:01 AM, kicking off another exciting Great Lakes shipping season in Sault Ste. Marie. It’s always special when that first freighter of the season passes through.

Visitors and locals will gather at Soo Locks Park to watch the first ships move through the locks and celebrate the start of the season.

Say "good-riddance" to Old Man Winter with one of LSSU’s most beloved traditions on Friday, March 20, from 5:30—7:30 p.m. outside the Cisler Center and inside the Galley.

After seeing 173" of snow this winter season, we are ready for Spring to arrive.

Celebrate the arrival of spring at Lake Superior State University’s annual Snowman Burning, a long-standing tradition where winter goes up in flames. This year, the event features the EUP Snowman Burning Open House, allowing local students and families to explore academic programs, scholarships, and opportunities at LSSU.
