We try really hard to not interrupt the process of these turtles laying their eggs but sometimes, we have to help a little! It was not a great choice for her to lay her eggs up in the landscaping rocks and that drop was a little too far! Glad to see her make it back to the lake.

On a huge lake like this, you are never guaranteed to catch a fish from the shore. It’s called fishing not catching after all 😉 So when it happens, it’s all the more exciting! He was so excited to catch then release this little perch.

“Making memories since 1943” is one of our slogans here at SLC. When you think about it, camping takes some effort! Planning, packing and setting up are all part of MAKING the memories! It takes intention and shows your friends and family that you are showing up to be with them. Not just being passively “entertained” in front of a screen in the same room. The best things take a little work! Some of our favorite moments of owning a campground are experienced through the eyes of the kids. It’s worth the effort.

A successful journey for this painted turtle. She got out to lay eggs then went back and returned to the lake!

There were so many turtles out and about this weekend! We remind our campers to leave them alone as much as possible but sometimes they just won’t move off the road and we have to help them across so they don’t get hit! Pick them up with two hands supporting their shell from the top and bottom (like holding a Maidrite sandwich 😉) and move them across the road in the direction they were heading. Never relocate them to a new location.
They are such cool reptiles. 🐢
