So I went on a virtual hunt for a great place to enjoy an espresso martini and found this new to me spot right in the heart of everything on Broughton St. Not to worry, Joe & Vera's has something for those on both sides of this debate! It's Movie Monday, and this month we take you to Isle of Hope which is situated just south of Historic Savannah. Scenes from this movie exemplify how Savannah is so much more than just the Historic District, food, history, drinking and art. The outer laying areas present a quiet calm, peculiar smells, and coastal nature that is best described as low country home. Once experienced, life in the low country isn't one that you'd soon forget.

Today we took a little field trip to meet our new neighbor, Stoner's Pizza Joint. Not only is today International Pizza and B**r Day, but SPJ is celebrating their grand reopening. at their new location, 606 W. Turner Blvd. Some come stay with us and grab a pizza next door. On this We ❤ Vendors Wednesday, Dream Weaver Photos gets our spotlight! Photography isn't as easy as just snapping the picture, it's about timing, lighting, positioning, skill, and sometimes a stroke of luck. One thing you have to do is TRUST! Trust the photographer and trust the process. And we trust Dream Weaver Photos!!

I wanted to share something about this photo. I took this yesterday in the old brick cotton storage “rooms” on Factor’s Walk (downtown Savannah). 1. It was hot 2. It was trashy 3. It smelled.
It was also off-camera flash, I also had to be fast.
About 10 secs in, my beautiful bride, Deanna, said “Jamie, I need to leave.” I said “Give me 30 seconds”.
I put my flash behind them, pointed it at the wall.
I already had my settings on my camera in my mind, I set my iso, shutter & aperture in like 5 seconds.
I yelled “Look at each other!”
Deanna, being a former model lifted her cute leg and I snapped 3 photos and we ran outside.
So. most people have no clue what I’m doing when I have an idea. (Ya’ll know me! I ain’t lying!) Most of my photo career has been me praying I know what to do in a situation where I have mere seconds to get it, to capture it. That moment that lasts for a few breaths and they can’t hold it any longer and the moment is gone forever.
When I showed them the picture, they just couldn’t believe it. It was worth it.
I am telling you this to say that if things don’t come easy for you, do not give up! Practice but be willing to be embarrased for a bit.
This came REALLY easy for me yesterday, but not ten years ago.
