Remember the video from earlier this week of Rachel riding Bo with a bug rug on her head?? This is what he was practicing for!
He was an absolute champ and (after an insanely thorough bath🙈) shone like the star he is carrying the bride down the aisle. So proud of him and how far he’s come since we got him!

Congratulations to the happy couple!🥂Thanks for letting us be a part of your big day!

Ella arrived back home to Mountain Rose today after a successful date with the gorgeous Heath (on the right). We will do an ultrasound in a couple weeks to confirm but all signs point to a 2027 foal!

Wedding photos are here! We’ll share the horsey highlights over a couple posts from the big day back in May.

Bill pulled the big wagon shuttling guests from the parking area to the ceremony location. When we first started practicing to get him in shape we definitely realized he’d gotten lazy (and maybe a little fat!) but after 2 weeks of practice runs he was doing great and really shone day of. He was happy to go back in the string as a saddle horse after all that work but I think secretly he loves pulling and showing off his incredible strength.
Shoutout to for working through Bill’s antics and driving!

Yesterday was perfection for a hunter pace. We are so grateful for top notch horses that can trailer off farm, fly over jumps and gallop full speed in the morning, then come home and safely take a beginner rider on a walking trail ride in the afternoon!

Ella’s off to have a date with quite a handsome stallion. She was definitely unimpressed with him on her arrival but time will surely change that.

You may be thinking, wow she just had Ivy little less than a month ago. Because a mare’s gestation is over 11 months long and the optimal time for a foal to born is in the spring and summer, (mares also don’t cycle in the winter) in order to stay on track she is designed to both carry AND nurse a foal at the same time. In fact mares often cycle and can conceive 5-7 DAYS after foaling. This happens regularly in wild herds where a stallion is with the mares year round and as long as there were no complications foaling, is within normal. As a mother myself, I’m so glad that’s not the case for humans!

Since 7 days was too young for Ivy to make the long trailer ride, and Ella was still extremely protective, I waited for Ellas second cycle post foaling. They both traveled extremely well. I can’t wait to have them back in a week or two!

It’s been a second since the last post! No excuses, the days have been full and long and eventful.

So let’s start the catch up with these cuties! We have kittens again! A neighbor needed help finding these girls homes and so here they are. Winne is the long haired tabby in the second photo, Willow is the short haired tabby and Waverly is the white and tabby. If you’re interested in giving one (or more🤭) of these girls a place on your couch or barn let us know! They are extremely friendly and will be up to date on shots when they go.
