Dear Friends of the Blue Ridge Motel,
We hope this letter finds you well. I am writing today with great sadness to share the news that this will be my last day as the owner of the Blue Ridge Motel.
We have spent the last seven years having the privilege of meeting so many of you in person. You may have been a vendor during the renovations, amazing guest over the last six and a half years, or one of the thirty staff members that have worked with us. No matter how you connected with the Blue Ridge Motel you have touched my life, and I want to thank you for all your support. I leave here today with so many memories and lessons learned.
A hotel or motel is not just a building, it is a safe haven, where folks travel to relax, decompress, seek safety, and or feel like they are at a “home away from home”. Making sure that their needs are met is not always easy, but I have had the privilege of having some of the most amazing staff that have shared my mission to make everyone of our guest feel welcomed and safe. To my staff, I thank you for all your hard work and dedication. I could not have made my dream a reality and/or fulfilled our motel’s mission without your support.
In addition, I would like to invite all my guest to feel comfortable knowing that after much searching and discussion I was able to connect and contract with new owners for the motel that will continue to provide the mission of the Blue Ridge Motel, which is to provide a safe and welcoming home away from home.
Please meet the new owners of the Blue Ridge Motel…Jeremy and Nicole DeGrasse. Jeremy and Nicole are excited to get to know the Schroon Lake community and take the reins and keep moving the motel forward. Here is their story…
Jeremy got his start in hospitality in 2014, renting out his camper to hikers just outside of Lake Placid. He enjoyed meeting people from all over the country so much that he kept hosting, and before long other property owners were asking him for help with their rentals. Jeremy and Nicole got married in 2018, welcomed their first baby in 2019 and their second in 2021, and somewhere in the middle of all that decided to turn Jeremy's side hobby into a real business. That became Drifter Stays, a short-term rental management company that now cares for homes from Wilmington to Saratoga Springs.
They've called the Adirondacks home before and now live just down the road in Saratoga County, so this part of the state has always felt like home.
For years, Jeremy and Nicole had been searching for the right small motel, and when they found the Blue Ridge, it just felt aligned with their mission and values. Now they plan to bring that same five-star vacation rental experience to the Blue Ridge: well-kept rooms, thoughtful little touches, and the kind of easy, worry-free stay that lets guests relax from the moment they arrive. They have exciting plans for the property over time, but the heart of the Blue Ridge isn't changing. It will always be a cozy, friendly place where travelers and locals alike feel at home.
Jeremy and Nicole are joined by their business partners, and will be leading the day-to-day operations with a team of local staff. They're also looking forward to pointing their guests toward the restaurants, shops, and businesses that make Schroon Lake such a great place to visit.
I personally want to thank Jeremy and Nicole, friends of mine and my husband, for stepping up and offering to purchase and continue the mission of reviving this old motel. It warms my heart to know that my final mission will be completed in time and that the community will continue to have a thriving and successful business. I wish them every bit of luck.
In closing, I would once again like to thank every one of my guest for sharing their lives with us over the last six and a half years and giving me so many wonderful memories.
