Gold Palette ArtWalk benefitting the 100 Club back for its second year
From 6:30 – 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, the Scottsdale Gallery Association will honor first responders through their first Gold Palette ArtWalk of 2021. The event will serve as a fundraiser to benefit the 100 Club of Arizona, a non-profit organization that has aided public safety agencies, officers, firefighters, EMT/paramedics and their families statewide since 1968. Like last year, the popular “Demonstrate… and Donuts” themed ArtWalk will feature donut-sampling opportunities at many of the Scottsdale Arts Districts’ participating galleries along Main Street from Scottsdale Road to Goldwater Boulevard and north of Indian School on Marshall Way to 5th Avenue. Local donut shops are donating the sweet treats, and entertainment includes traditional bagpipe musical performances and demonstrations from local artists. Special precautions are being taken to ensure guests' safety, and attendees must practice social distancing and wear a face covering.

Scottsdale Arts selects artist for Marshall Way Bridge enhancement
In late December, the Scottsdale Arts Public Art Board and Artist Selection Panel approved artist Annette Coleman for the splash pad enhancement project. Annette was selected from 47 respondents due to her overall aesthetic and history of working well with the communities in which she previously partnered. The project is slated to be completed this summer. At the beginning of July 2020, the Scottsdale City Council authorized the transfer $65,000 from the fiscal year 2020-21 General Fund capital contingency budget for the splash pad enhancement project to be funded by the Downtown Cultural Trust. The splash pad, which serves as an attraction for families to play and relax at the waterfront, will be transformed by an awarded artist to enhance its visual interest to the public.
