The Hotel Texan was shook tonight by a low flying Air Force Globemaster C-17A, the number on the tail was NOGS56. It passed directly over Seminole and Seagraves/Loop. Anyone know why it was so low?

The Hotel Texan opened on Main Street in Seagraves in 1917. One of the most amazing things about this 107-year-old hotel is that all of the original registration books are still at the hotel. In 1922, the Hotel Texan was bought by the Simpson family who would rename it the Simpson Inn, the name most longtime West Texas residents remember. But the Simpsons actually sold the hotel in late 1923 and bought it back in 1927. From 1923 to 1927, the hotel was called the Walcott Hotel, as noted on these registration pages from this week, exactly 100 years ago in the middle of June 1924.

We just found this advertisement from 1937. Working out of a room at the Hotel Simpson (now the Hotel Texan) Doctor Shoultz could “treat all diseases without the use of drugs or the knife.”

It has been a busy weekend at the Hotel Texan. Sold out last night with eclipse chasers from Hong Kong, California, Colorado, and Canada.
Today we are so happy to welcome the Vulcan Riders Motorcycle Group who battled 30 mph wind coming here from Ft. Worth.
