5 years into weddings and this is still one of my favorite shots to date. And it’s NOT AI!
This midnight Mt Rainier session is exactly the kind of thing I wish more couples knew was possible.

Direct inspiration from and his stunning wedding photography. Big landscapes with little people. It just looks so epic!
The background on this is that we planned this engagement shoot and got there at 7pm for sunset on the mountain. The photos turned out phenomenal and we previously agreed to stay late to capture some star photos like this.
So we stayed until 1AM to get this photo!!!! There was no wind, the temperature outside was around 55-60 degrees which was perfect after hiking up, and there was an entirely beautiful clear sky above the mountain. The moon was completely full and beaming down on us so much that it actually cast our shadows it was so bright.
But I still got to capture the stars in the sky. As well, the remote trigger on my flash wasn’t working, so I had to set the timer for a 25sec exposure, run over behind the couple, manually pop the flash, then run back to my camera to see the result!
This photo is composed of three different photos, one for the outline of the couple, one for the exposure of the mountain, and one for the exposure of the stars. Put together this is the final result and I’m so incredibly happy with it and looking forward to doing more in the future!
