❄️Cold Weather Shelter Information❄️

The Salvation Army (SA) will serve as a Cold Weather Shelter on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights from 7 PM through 7 AM the following mornings. The SA is located at 2655 5th Street SW, Vero Beach, FL 32962. The SA can shelter 40 people, and clients will be accepted until 9 PM. The SA shall provide light meals and can be reached at: 772-453-5383.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) shall also serve as a Cold Weather Shelter on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights from 7 PM through 7 AM the following mornings. The IRCSO is located at 4055 41st Ave, Vero Beach, FL 32960. The IRCSO can shelter 64 people, and clients will be accepted from 7 PM until 9 PM. Personal property (excluding personal hygiene items and cell phones) will be stored outside, away from secure areas. Service animals are permitted, and laundering equipment is available. There are no privacy expectations, and clients shall be searched before entry. Breakfast and dinner will be provided.

Please exercise extreme protective actions for vulnerable populations, pets, and plants/agricultural products during this severe cold weather event. Remember to use caution when operating indoor heating sources.

Extreme Cold incoming for most of Florida. Wind Chills here for Sunday AM has the whole state freezing (expect the Keys). An Extreme Cold Warning will be coming for a big chunk of the state. NWS considers this to be dangerous with conditions that could lead to frostbite or hypothermia. Record temps for many. Socks and flops don't stand a chance.

We would like to extend warmest wishes for a joyous Christmas season to everyone. In observance of the holiday, our office hours on Christmas Eve will be adjusted, and we will be closing at 1pm to allow staff to celebrate with their families. Kindly attend to any park related business before 1pm tomorrow. Regular business hours will resume on December 26th.
