Harvest came so early this year! We could hardly keep up. We had wonderful guests that participated in the experience this year. They loved touring the tasting room and w**e making and enjoying a bottle of our ‘25 Chardonnay. We had so much fun with them, we hope to be able to share harvesting with guests again next year.
Pinot also harvested early at the beginning of August. Almost a month earlier than last year! And yesterday we harvested Chardonnay. It’s been a crazy year for grapes. The hot temps early in the year caused an early harvest. Cold, windy, rain at Pinot pollination causes shatter, meaning we had about half the grapes as last year. And then the fires north of the ranch on the coast just before Pinot harvest caused a lot of w**emakers to shift course, in some cases choosing not to make Pinot this year because of the terrible timing of the smoke. We decided to do all Rose with our Pinot grapes to limit the smoke impact. Thankfully our Chardonnay grapes did great this year. Just came a bit early. It has been such a great experience learning so much this season about w**emaking. What a great way to meet new friends. Such a great community here ❤️
