As we head into the 4th of July weekend, here are a few reminders...

Fireworks are NEVER allowed on USFS lands, and spark arrestors are ALWAYS required. Off-route travel is NEVER allowed and is especially dangerous with the current fire danger conditions. Be safe and smart out there 💯

The Pike NF (including Rampart Range, Rainbow Falls, and North Divide) has moved to a Stage 2 fire ban.

The main difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 is that with Stage 2, fires within metal campfire rings at developed campgrounds, like at Rampart, are also prohibited.

PROHIBITED:

🚫 Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, charcoal barbecue, or grill, except if using a device solely fueled by liquid or gas that can be turned on and off in an area barren or cleared of all flammable materials within three feet of the device. 36 CFR § 261.52(a)

🚫 Smoking, except in an enclosed vehicle or building. 36 CFR § 261.52(d)

🚫 Welding or operating an acetylene or other torch with open flame. 36 CFR § 261.52(h)

🚫 Using an explosive. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(b)

🚫 Possessing or using a motor vehicle off NFS roads, except when parking in an area devoid of vegetation within 10 feet of the motor vehicle. 36 CFR § 261.56.

NOTE: If you are running a gas powered chainsaw under a Stage 2 fire ban, you'll need to carry a fire extinguisher and a shovel 🧯

🚨UPDATE🚨 Trails in Rampart Range will be OPEN tomorrow 4/7 (trails only).

Rampart Range Road will remain temporarily CLOSED at the locations listed below while the fuels mitigation crew wraps up this season's efforts. We'll announce here when the road opens back up.
