While most can assume the cave earned its name from its remarkable similarity to the female anatomy, some theories are floating around that pregnant Hopi women used to come to this cave to give birth. As such, some consider the cave to be one of Sedona's “energy vortexes,” with feminine solid energy.

The Chapel of the Holy Cross has been a fixture of the Sedona community since its completion in 1956. It landed in the buttes of Sedona after its intended place in Budapest, Hungary, and was not a suitable place for construction after World War II. 20 years of planning and design work led to this incredible feature becoming a part of the Sedona landscape.
