THREE AWARDS! 🏆🏆🏆 ONE AMAZING COMMUNITY! 💚

We’re still riding the high from this weekend’s Green Living Awards, where Compost Crowd took home THREE awards! 🎉🌱

While we were out of town, our incredible friend and colleague Mariah Zavala stepped up to represent the Crowd, accept our awards, and share a few words on our behalf. And WOW, did she make us proud!

Mariah, we can’t thank you enough for showing up for us, celebrating this milestone, and being such a wonderful ambassador for the work we all care so deeply about. We’re so grateful to have you in our corner! 💚

These awards mean the world to us because they reflect something much bigger than composting. They represent a community that believes food scraps are a resource, that small actions create meaningful change, and that together we can make Northern Arizona a little greener every day.

To our incredible Crowd: THANK YOU for being part of this journey, for believing in what we do, and for helping us grow!

THE SEDONA–VOC GARDEN TOUR IS TOMORROW!

The wait is almost over! Fall Splendor is happening tomorrow, Saturday, September 19, and we’re excited to welcome everyone who purchased tickets for a beautiful day exploring some of Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek’s inspiring gardens.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TICKET HOLDERS

📧 Watch your email today!
Garden maps and addresses will be emailed Friday, September 18 to the email address used when purchasing your tickets. The email will come from [email protected].

✓ You may begin at any of the gardens and visit them in the order that works best for you.

✓ All gardens will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

✓ There will be a welcome table at each private garden for check-in. You only need to provide your name, but you’re welcome to have your email confirmation available on your phone or printed.

✓ No check-in is required at the Community Garden.

Please note that ticket sales closed September 16, so tickets will not be available tomorrow.

We hope you have a wonderful time discovering beautiful gardens, gathering new ideas, and enjoying Fall Splendor in Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek!

We have some exciting news to share! 🌱We’re incredibly honored that Compost Crowd has been named a finalist in FOUR categories in Green Living Magazine’s Best of Arizona 2026 Awards!

This recognition belongs to all of us. Every bucket set out each week, every banana peel, coffee ground, and veggie scrap composted, and every conversation about reducing food waste has helped build something truly special. Together, we’ve diverted millions of pounds of food waste from the landfill and shown what a community of committed people can accomplish.

Tomorrow, we’re excited to participate in the Pride in the Pines Parade for the very first time! 🌈

We’re proud to stand alongside Flagstaff Pride in celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and the people, organizations, and advocates who help make Northern Arizona a welcoming place for all.

Community has always been at the heart of what we do, and we’re honored to be part of this year’s celebration.

Keep an eye out for the Compost Crowd truck 🛻 downtown as we make our way through the parade route. We’ll be handing out wildflower seed packets and plenty of Pride spirit along the way.

The parade starts at 10 AM tomorrow, and we can’t wait to see you there.

What an incredible, historic week in Northern Arizona! We are so stoked and honored to have even been a small part of the 2026 !

Beyond the big feels for ’s record-breaking win, we’re also so proud of the organizers for making sustainability and waste diversion a major part of their planning.

Capturing food scraps at aid stations along the 253-mile course raises the bar for events and races everywhere. We applaud their effort and care, and we look forward to working together to help make this the new normal in Northern AZ and beyond!

Heart full 💚 What an Earth Day to remember!

The first thing that I feel like I need to say about yesterday’s big Earth Day Ribbon Cutting Baler Reveal + Fundraiser at is how nearly every single person who attended was part of the Crowd. It almost felt like a special gift to Brock and I that we got to see and connect with so many Sedona Crowd members unexpectedly on Earth Day.

To me, it reads as members of the Crowd are people who really care — about food waste diversion, about recycling, about Earth Day, about their community, and they show up! 🫶🏻

To see the three founders of Sedona Recycles there and together for the first time in over a decade was momentous. Grateful to be there beside our friends at the Sustainability Team, providing zero-waste refreshments, and the made it an Earth Day event we won’t soon top!

Happy Earth Day week! 🌎We are busy little bees 🐝 out in the community!

Earth Day Celebration in Flagstaff with the City yesterday, the annual plant sale with the Sedona Village Rotary today, and, as you know, with on Earth Day (Wednesday) for their big ribbon-cutting and fundraiser!

Come see us until noon today at the plant sale in the Village of Oak Creek by the library, and get your first month of residential collection service for free when you join the Crowd in honor of Earth Day!

(A story that I don’t think I’ve ever put on social media is that when we first started Compost Crowd in January 2018 it was our “get your first month of service free for Earth Day“ promo in April that properly launched the business by signing up our first 40 households!

So, it’s a bit nostalgic every year to welcome new members into the Crowd in that same way!

Flagstaff, we are so excited to see you at tomorrow’s big Earth Day celebration at Bushmaster Park starting at 11 AM!

We were sad when last year‘s event was rained out, so we’re even more excited to be in the community for this big moment! It’s super special being in the sustainability world to have events and celebrations dedicated to Earth Day.

It’s a great opportunity to bring attention to the significance of environmental impact and ways that individuals and organizations can continue to increase their sustainability efforts! 🌎🌱♻️💚
