🏡 What a summer at Meadow Lake Retreat!

Between The Loft and The Bunk House, we welcomed 203 guests across 68 bookings this summer.

That included:
- 163 adults
- 40 kids
- and a whole lot of memories made at the lake.

But behind every guest stay, every turnover, and every great first impression was a team that means so much to us.

At Central Texas BNB, we don’t just think of our cleaning crew as staff — they’re extended family.

🐿️ Apparently Reiley Retreat has a new guest…

No reservation.
No cleaning fee.
Didn’t even bother to check in.

Just stretched out on the deck, looked over the lake and decided,
“Yep. I’m staying.” 😂

We can’t really blame him.

🥩 **Seguin just raised the steaks.**

Pete Aguirre and Jacob Kozlowski, the local entrepreneurs behind 1908, have officially opened **Black Door Steakhouse** in downtown Seguin.

We love seeing local business owners invest in our community and create another great experience for both locals and visitors. Seguin has always had plenty of character. Now we have another place to enjoy a great steak, celebrate something special, or simply pretend ordering dessert was part of the plan all along.

Well, look who made the list. 👀

After eating **51 smoked chickens across Texas**, the writer at Texas Monthly named Schulze’s Pit Room as the favorite.

That does not surprise us one bit.

We love sending Central Texas BNB guests to locally owned places that give them a real taste of Central Texas, and Schulze’s is one of those spots. Great barbecue, good people, and now apparently some of the best smoked chicken in the entire state.

Knowing how difficult it is to get it just right, our barbecue editor made it his mission this year to find the best half chickens—a bird split right down the middle or served as a breast and a leg—in Texas. The variety of preparations at different barbecue joints is surprising: Some chickens are smoked on offsets, others are cooked directly over coals, and a few are finished in a deep fryer.

"I can’t say that I’ve eaten every smoked chicken in the state, but I’ve eaten 51 different ones since January," writes Daniel Vaughn.
