Gโ€™day dreamers, welcome to Hoof & Hound Ranch.

Welcome to our herd of misfits:
A cowboy, an Aussie, the goodest dog & a giant Draft horse
feral about giving animals a second chance in Seminole, Oklahoma, USA Weโ€™re an Aussie-American husband & wife duo with one very enthusiastic dog (Oscar, CEO of Snacks). We rescue at-risk horses & livestock in Oklahoma, give them time, space, a feed bucket with their name on it, & a whole lottaโ€™ patience. Som

e go on to find new homes, some stay longer, some just need a soft place to land while they remember how to be a horse again. We also run a pet-friendly farmstay right here on the property, which is how we fund the rescue side of things. So, when you stay here, youโ€™re literally helping save lives... no pressure or anything, just wholesome-as-hell butterfly effect magic. We believe in second chances, big skies, belly laughs, muddy boots, slow mornings, good coffee, quiet moments with horses, & the kind of love that shows up. If youโ€™re new here, welcome to the chaos. Grab a tea, meet the herd, & make yourself at home. Cheers & good vibes,

My little brother DM'd from Australia asking where all our ranch stories went...
fair question. we've collected five new misfits in four months
& documented approximately none of it like functioning humans.
so. catch-up time, especially if you're new here.

We've been living the chaos. Just not writing any of it down.

It started with CLANCY...

Our big Belgian gelding. 17.3 hands of golden retriever energy in a horse suit. He came to us in February with some significant rehab needs, especially in his less-than-gentlemanly hoof behaviour. But he's the one that low-key turned this place into something bigger than we originally planned. The kind of misunderstood horse that makes you want to do better by animals.

Then BRUISER joined the Bangarang Gang...

Kyle found this tiny orange menace among the trash at work. He fit in one hand & now runs the house. Bruiser has the face of someone deeply innocent & the energy of someone actively committing tax fraud. He promoted himself from barn kitten to indoor management within about a week & has had no regrets.

Then came the puppies. Again, completely unplanned...

Two skinny, collarless, clueless little chaos goblins wandered onto the property at around 5 months old. No owners came forward & one look at the state of them made it pretty obvious they'd been dumped.

The black one's first name just wasn't cutting his spunky little street-fighter attitude, so we went back to the drawing board. He's now ROCKY (Balboa). Naturally, the gold flashy one is APOLLO (Creed).

Rocky (aka Dilli Dally) is one smart cookie. Always doing perimeter checks on a ranch he absolutely does not own, following Oscar around like he's studying for his grown-up dog exam.

Apollo (aka Space Cadet) is a giant fluffy cloud with approximately 3-5 thoughts a day (all about loving you... & food) & the confidence of someone who has never once considered that things might not work out.

All the lost boys are vaccinated, wormed, flea & tick treated & booked to be neutered (next week in fact). They've come a long way from the feral little gremlins attempting to chase a Belgian draft horse around the pasture on day one.
.. & then last week, our newest arrival made HER entrance. Everyone, meet PAISLEY.

Named in the vet clinic waiting room, on account of looking like a little paisley potato. Got the lungs to match Brad Paisley too. She'll also answer to Princess P, Sweet P, or P for Parkour!

She's a dramatic woodland banshee opera child. Tiny & loud & deeply suspicious of literally everything. A cautious little calico who screams at the universe first & asks questions later. The size of a yam but with mighty opinions.

She also means I'm finally, FINALLY not outnumbered by the lads around here. Welcome to the ranch, Paisley gal. We needed you!

We'll be putting together proper individual albums for each of them soon so you can follow their stories. But for now, here's a quick look at the newest herd members. Chaotic, mismatched, completely unplanned & somehow exactly right to kickstart the sanctuary, increase the good vibes, decrease the bank account & just life the good life.

More soon. We promise. (My brother is watching.)

Cheers & good vibes,
โ€“ B, Kyle & Sir Oscar (Prince of Barkness)

48 hours. One very large horse. Zero chill. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Photo dump from the last two days because, holy smokes, Batman! This all happened fast.

Saturday night, after a full, dusty, exhausted day of fencing, we jumped online around 8pm โ€œjust to lookโ€ at the auction & there he was.

A big, beautiful Belgian.

Solid, sound, calm & exactly the kind of horse that quietly disappears into the kill pipeline simply because of his size & meat value heading to Mexico or Canada. A lot of people donโ€™t even realise thatโ€™s how it works (roughly 18,000-20,000 horses a year still disappear into the meat & dog food trade!).

We werenโ€™t going to let that happen. Not on our watch.

So we entered a bidding war. Tired, dirty, unprepared, probably not thinking straight.

Bobโ€™s your uncle. He was ours.

Fudging strewth! ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ We just bought a bloody horse!
(Or 3 horses in 1!)

Sunday, he arrived homeโ€ฆ & we were NOT ready.
Fencing half done.
Hay run mid-panic.
Everything chaos.
Us running around like feral goblins trying to get our sh*t together.
ADHD, neuro spicy, full send energy.

Was it the โ€œright timeโ€? Absolutely not.
Did he have time to wait for us to be organised? Also no...

โ€ฆ to be continued in the comments!!

So here we are.

48 hours later & heโ€™s settling in beautifully.

โ€ฆ& for anyone who hasnโ€™t brought a horse home before, especially one fresh out of the auction pipeline, you watch them like a crazy person.

Sweats, coughs, appetite, energy levelsโ€ฆ & yes, the poops. The giant, elephant-sized poops. I joked in my stories that this must be what new parents feel like & I stand by that. When your whole mood depends on someone elseโ€™s bowel movements, you know youโ€™re in deep.

Heโ€™s 17hh, built like a brick sh*****se & when he lifts his head you can see him over the shelter. Because of that, heโ€™s temporarily been dubbed โ€œLittlefootโ€ until the right name lands.

Weโ€™ve crowdsourced names, weโ€™re sitting on a list of about 50 & weโ€™re trialling them like responsible adults.

Weโ€™ll narrow it to five & let you all help decide, because this boy deserves a real name.

Even on his Coggins he was just a hip number. No name. No owner. Just auction to auction, pipeline life.

Not anymore.

Heโ€™s the first horse on our little new property. Our resident giant.

Heโ€™ll welcome many horses through here over time, but heโ€™s staying. Heโ€™s ours. Heโ€™s already teaching us things, mostly because heโ€™s clearly more trained than we are.

Heโ€™s got a background in driving, riding & all that badass draft work, which is something weโ€™re really excited to bring back in a kind, thoughtful way.

Using a heavy horse for what he was built for, gently, intentionally, never to extremes. Less machines, more partnership.

We donโ€™t call this a rescue. Because there are horses out there who need that word far more than he does.

But we did intercept him.
We stopped him before the kill pen.
Before the end of the road.
And that feels like a pretty damn good secret mission to be on.

Welcome home, big guy.
Youโ€™re safe now.
And yeahโ€ฆ weโ€™re figuring it out as we go.
But we already adore you.

Cheers,
B, Kyle & Oscar ๐Ÿพ

Winter photo dump because weโ€™re notoriously bad at remembering to post on socials, so weโ€™re accepting our fate & embracing the chaos.

Posting when we remember, sharing what we can, while putting most of our energy into building something solid, safe & damn special.

Right now that looks like cold mornings, muddy boots, half-finished projects (many, many of them), lots of learning, plenty of laughs & a whole lot of behind-the-scenes work going into creating a property weโ€™ll be proud to welcome future rescue horses, client horses, livestock & farmstay guests... Two-legged & four-legged.

Cheers to slow builds, real life & doing things properly in 2026.
