What a God thing to be blessed to be a part of a completely last-minute wedding 2 Sundays ago. The wedding was filled with so many little God things. God is Awesome, Amazing and SO SO Good! The Bride and Groom just had their marriage license, no decorations, no photographer, no Officiant, no bouquet. Just the 2 of them and a little Mustard Seed of Faith.
By the time Wendell & I met them at The Mustard Seed, they had an Officiant (Wendell), Photographer (me), Videographer (Heather), a bouquet (gift from Jenny and Annette) and a gorgeous view (compliments of God).
Another God thing was hearing their story. Chasity had been given a mustard seed by Terry back when she had something going on in her life where she needed a little bit of faith. Then, a month and a day before their wedding, Terry was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. Chasity gave the mustard seed back to Terry and he’s been holding onto it ever since. They had not planned on getting married this soon, but due to the cancer, they wanted to be married quickly.
The rest of the story is that I missed Chasity’s call on Sunday morning and when I called her back, Chasity later told me that as soon as she heard me say ‘The Mustard Seed’, she knew that they were supposed to be married there. In all honesty, I told her that we would not be able to do it because we were headed to Slidell as soon as church was over, and we don’t work on Sundays - except for emergencies. I told her I’d send her some names and numbers of Officiants and that they could do it on TMS property. I told her we’d be praying for her and Terry, we talked a bit longer about his cancer and we hung up. I sent her a list of Officiants while walking out to the kitchen. Wendell was there and asked what the story was. I told him and he said “I’ll do it.” I asked if he was sure and he said yes, that he knew he was supposed to. So, I called Chasity back and told her that we’d meet them after church, that we’d push our trip to Slidell back a little bit. On our way to church, we called them again so Wendell could talk to them about the ceremony and they said that they wanted the wedding to be God centered.
Annette, the mother of the Bride (Jenny) from the day before ‘just happened’ to call me right then to ask a few questions about checking out and I asked if there were any flowers left from the wedding. She said that there were a lot. I explained the situation and she told me to have Chasity stop by for flowers for a bouquet, they had everything to make one with. When we got to TMS, our friends Rodney & Heather were still there in one of our cabins, but had planned to be gone by then (God had other plans). So, I asked Heather to video the ceremony so I could take pictures. She happily did (ironically, Heather and Chasity are both Jeep Girls and Heather’s best friend is also named Chasity, what are the chances?!) God had everything already planned out for them without us even knowing it.
Another God thing came from church that morning. We go to Seymour First Baptist and our Pastor, Corey Cain, had a sermon that morning on Serving and he also talked about I Corinthians (the love chapter). Later, Wendell had a very special wedding message for Chasity & Terry and he tied in what Corey said in his own little talk to Chasity & Terry.
This wedding was absolutely beautiful in every way and was definitely orchestrated by God from the beginning. He knew how everything was going to work out. He had it planned that there would be a marriage license place open in Pigeon Forge on a Saturday morning, He knew that the other Officiant would back out so that The Mustard Seed would end up being their wedding place. God planned for Wendell to say he’d do it, Corey’s sermon to be what it was, Jenny to have leftover flowers and Annette to call me at the perfect time, Heather & Rodney to still be there and for it to all start with the mustard seed of faith that Chasity & Terry had between them.
