Lots going on!!!

🍂 Sevier County September 2026 AT A GLANCE:

September is going to be a busy one around Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Smokies.

We’ve got the Sevier County Fair, the start of fall festivals, Dollywood’s Harvest Festival, several major car and truck events, bluegrass, races, family activities and a couple of weekends where traffic planning will definitely matter.

Here’s what’s happening:

🎡 SEPT. 1–7: SEVIER COUNTY FAIR

The Sevier County Fair returns to the fairgrounds on Old Knoxville Highway.

A few things to know:
• No rides are scheduled Tuesday, Sept. 1
• Rodeo days are Sept. 5–6
• Children 10 and under get free gate admission
• Parking is free

Local families also get a four-day Labor Day weekend, with Sevier County Schools out Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7.

🍁 SEPT. 1–NOV. 1: GATLINBURG HARVEST FESTIVAL

Gatlinburg begins its fall season Sept. 1 with seasonal decorations and displays around town.

🍺 THROUGHOUT SEPTEMBER: ANAKEESTA BEAR-VARIAN FALL FESTIVAL

Anakeesta’s Bavarian-inspired fall celebration actually begins Aug. 28 and continues through Nov. 1, with seasonal food, entertainment, decorations and optional b**r and c***r tastings.

🦖 THROUGH SEPT. 13: JURASSIC ADVENTURE AT THE ISLAND

If you haven’t checked out the dinosaurs at The Island yet, September brings the final chance. The free Jurassic Adventure runs through Sept. 13.

📚 SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER: ALcatraz EAST HOMESCHOOL DAYS

Homeschool families can take advantage of special weekday admission at Alcatraz East from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. during September and October.

🥣 SEPT. 10: SOUPER BOWL XXIII

Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts hosts its annual Souper Bowl in Gatlinburg, benefiting United Way of Sevier County.

🍔 SEPT. 11–18: GATLINBURGER WEEK

Participating Gatlinburg restaurants create specialty burgers for the week, and visitors can try them and vote for their favorites.

🎢 SEPT. 11–12: THRILLS IN THE HILLS AT DOLLYWOOD

Dollywood’s coaster-focused Thrills in the Hills event returns Sept. 11–12.

Dollywood had some calendar changes this year, but the dedicated event page currently confirms these dates.

👥 SEPT. 11–13: TRANSFORM LADIES CONFERENCE

The Transform Ladies Conference comes to the LeConte Center. It isn't necessarily a tourist event for everyone, but it is worth knowing about because another large convention means additional people around Teaster Lane and the Parkway.

🎃 SEPT. 14–OCT. 31: DOLLYWOOD HARVEST FESTIVAL

One of the biggest signs that fall has arrived.

Dollywood’s Harvest Festival begins Sept. 14 along with Great Pumpkin LumiNights, bringing thousands of illuminated pumpkins, fall decorations, seasonal food and visiting craftspeople to the park.

🛍️ SEPT. 16–19: STATEMINT FALL POP-UP

The Sevierville Statemint consignment sale returns at The Ridge Events Center, with a charity presale Sept. 15 benefiting Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic.

🚨 SEPT. 17–19: BIG TRAFFIC WEEKEND

Circle this one if you live here, work here or plan to visit.

Three sizable events overlap:

🚗 Pigeon Forge Fall Rod Run
LeConte Center, Sept. 17–19

🛻 F-100 Supernationals
Sevierville Convention Center, Sept. 17–19

🎻 Dumplin Valley Bluegrass Festival
Kodak, Sept. 17–19

The bluegrass festival runs from noon until around 11 p.m. each day, while the two vehicle events bring significant activity to both Pigeon Forge and the Highway 66/Gists Creek Road area.

Expect heavier traffic on the Parkway, Highway 66/Winfield Dunn Parkway, around the Sevierville Convention Center and near Exit 407.

🍂 SEPT. 18–OCT. 31: SEVIERVILLE SMOKY MOUNTAIN HARVEST FEST

Sevierville joins the fall fun with seasonal decorations around town and the return of the Harvest Hank scavenger hunt.

🏁 SEPT. 19: MUSTANG VS. CAMARO SHOWDOWN

Mustangs and Camaros face off at NASCAR SpeedPark in Sevierville from 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

The show also raises money for Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital.

🌊 SEPT. 20: LAST SPLASH AT SPLASH COUNTRY

Sept. 20 is the final scheduled operating day of Dollywood’s Splash Country for the 2026 season.

So if you’re trying to squeeze in one last waterpark day, don’t wait until October. 😁

🎨 SEPT. 25–OCT. 24: PIGEON FORGE ROTARY CLUB CRAFT FAIR

The annual fall craft fair returns to Patriot Park with handmade items from local and regional artists and crafters.

🎶 SEPT. 25: THE OAK RIDGE BOYS

The Oak Ridge Boys perform at Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon Forge.

🛻 SEPT. 25–26: SMOKY MOUNTAIN TRUCK FEST

Lifted trucks, lowered trucks, Jeeps, side-by-sides, vendors and more take over the Sevierville Convention Center.

This means another weekend of extra activity along Highway 66 and around the convention center.

🏃 SEPT. 25–27: RUN DOLLYWOOD FALL RACE WEEKEND

Run Dollywood includes several events:

• Friday night 5K at 11 p.m.
• Saturday 10K at 5:30 a.m.
• Saturday Kids Fun Run
• Sunday Half Marathon at 5:30 a.m.

The courses include Dollywood and surrounding roads, so watch for very early race-related traffic around Dollywood and Veterans Boulevard that weekend.

🌽 SEPT. 26: KYKER FARMS FALL SEASON BEGINS

Kyker Farms Corn Maze begins its fall season Sept. 26, bringing back the corn mazes, pumpkin patch, hayrides and other farm activities.

🎨 SEPT. 26: CHALKFEST AT THE ISLAND

Artists turn the pavement at The Island into an outdoor gallery using chalk. It’s a free, family-friendly event.

🍴 SEPT. 27: STILLWELL FESTIVAL

Historic Downtown Sevierville hosts the Stillwell Festival with regional food, open-fire cooking demonstrations, artists, drinks and Southern entertainment.

🎶 SEPT. 27–OCT. 3: NATIONAL QUARTET CONVENTION

One of Pigeon Forge’s largest annual conventions begins Sept. 27 at the LeConte Center and continues into October.

That means the final weekend of September has quite a combination:

• Smoky Mountain Truck Fest
• Run Dollywood
• Chalkfest
• Kyker Farms opening weekend
• Stillwell Festival
• National Quartet Convention beginning

Definitely another weekend to allow some extra travel time.

🌲 SEPTEMBER IN THE SMOKIES

Cades Cove remains vehicle-free every Wednesday through Sept. 30.

That means Sept. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 are reserved for pedestrians and cyclists on the Loop Road. Parking tags are still required, and the National Park Service recommends trying the afternoon if morning parking is full.

🍁 WHAT ABOUT FALL COLOR?

September is the BEGINNING of fall color in the Smokies, not usually peak leaf season.

Some color can begin appearing at the highest elevations around mid-September, but the strongest color at the lower and middle elevations usually comes from mid-October into early November.

So if you visit in September, enjoy the fall festivals and decorations, but don’t be disappointed if the mountains are still mostly green.

🚧 ONE MORE TRAFFIC NOTE

TDOT currently has an ongoing bridge replacement project on northbound US 441 in Sevierville between Ranmoor Way and the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River, with possible overnight lane closures.

Construction schedules can change from week to week, so we’ll continue posting current road-work and traffic updates throughout September.

📌 SEPTEMBER CHAOS PREDICTOR

Sept. 1–7: 🟡🟡🟡 Fair + Labor Day weekend

Sept. 11–13: 🟡🟡🟡 Multiple events, but manageable

Sept. 17–19: 🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴 Rod Run + F-100s + Bluegrass Festival

Sept. 25–27: 🔴🔴🔴🔴 Truck Fest + Run Dollywood + multiple fall events + NQC arriving

September may start out feeling a little like summer, but by the end of the month Sevier County will be firmly in fall-event mode. 🍂

Save this one if you’re planning a September trip or just trying to figure out when NOT to get caught on the Parkway. 😁

We are simply heartbroken to hear of the passing of Dolly Parton. She was so much more than a cultural icon here in the mountains—her generosity and love for East Tennessee helped shape Sevier County in countless ways.

From Dollywood and her Imagination Library to her longtime support of AEF, her tremendous fire relief efforts, and her work with the children’s hospital in Nashville, Dolly gave back again and again to the communities and people she loved.

Her contributions to these mountains are immeasurable, and her legacy will live on here for generations. She will be deeply, deeply missed.

We will always love you, Dolly. ❤️🦋
