Great information if you're looking to go on a hike and picnic while staying at the Twin Bears. We are very close to the Metcalf Bottoms entrance to the National Park!
Happy first day of July! Did you know that it’s ? Here’s the quick guide to picnicking in Great Smoky Mountains National Park:
+You can find picnic areas throughout the park at Big Creek, Chimneys, Cades Cove, Collins Creek, Cosby, Deep Creek, Greenbrier, Heintooga, Look Rock, and Metcalf Bottoms. Download a park map at https://www.nps.gov/grsm!
+Remember that feeding wildlife is illegal. For your safety and theirs, keep your food to yourself.
+Even if you’re not feeding the animals, bears have a tremendous sense of smell that can lead them to things like garbage, food scraps, or coolers. Never leave your food or picnic items unattended, and be sure to clean your entire picnic spot—including the table, the grill, and the ground around the table—after your meal.
