On June 20th in Oak Ridge, Tennessee you can head to the Lavender Festival at Historic Jackson Square for one of the most stunning events and best changes to browse local goods you’ll find throughout the year in the Volunteer State! This free festival runs from 8 AM to 4 PM and brings more than 150 artisan vendors into one of Oak Ridge’s most historic gathering places.

Long before it became a festival setting, Jackson Square was known as Town Center No. 1, opening in 1943 as the first major shopping and entertainment district for Manhattan Project workers and their families. During World War II, it had grocery stores, restaurants, a pharmacy, a theater, a bowling alley, and even places open around the clock for the secret city’s booming population.

Today, that same square fills with fresh lavender bouquets, soaps, oils, lavender honey, handmade crafts, local art, food trucks, nearby restaurants, wine and cider tastings, garden tours, speakers, demos, and live music on two stages. The farmers market runs from 8 AM to noon, and the free kids area is open from 10 AM to 4 PM.
