For those interested in visiting Dollywood this year, here is a nice First-Timer's Guide to help you get the most out of your visit!!! Grand Getaway Cabin is exactly 1 mile from Dollywood and since its on the same street you as the Park, you are able to enter the park from the back street without sitting in a long traffic line!

Heading to Dollywood this summer? This first-timer's guide is a great read for Dollywood newbies and provides a great refresher for those who have already been.

• Our black bears have been out and about the last month or so. You may be able to see one on your trip through the Smokies.

We ask that if you do see a black bear please keep a minimum distance of 50 yards to keep you and the bears safe. If you’re having a hard time figuring out what 50 yards is, use the Rule of Thumb to measure your distance. Give the bear a thumbs up with your arm fully extended. Make sure to close one eye and stare at your thumb with the other eye. If your thumb covers the whole bear, so you can no longer see it, you are at a safe distance. If you can still see part of the bear around your thumb then you are still too close, please back away slowly while facing the bear.

As you drive through the park and the roads leading into the park, we ask that you slow down. You never know what could be around that next mountain curve. And if you see a bear crossing the road or near the roadside and would like to observe it, we ask that you pull off to a safe area with all four tires off the roadway so other cars can pass and so you are not holding up traffic.
