Thank you Madi & Carrie for a great Summer Season!

Scott - “Midway through the summer season, I left Seward to join the Milo Surf Boat on a 3 month Surf Exploration Mission to the end of Alaska’s Aleutian Chain.

The pre-summer season stress began to melt away, with the realization that I had a great team running the lodge for the 2023 Summer Season.

Can you spot the Mt. Marathon trail from here?

Starting in downtown Seward, racers run a half-mile to the bottom of Mt. Marathon, then scrabble about 2,900 vertical feet straight up cliffs and mud and shale before getting to “race point” which is an artificial summit point. Racers then decend over snow, rock fields, waterfalls and crags until they reach the finish line on 4th street.

Meet Scott 👋🏻 the creator of the Adventure Lodge and brains behind the operation. He purchased The Lodge as a Forest Service building in 2018 and renovated it to the hotel you see today.

If you don’t see him around the Lodge it is safe to assume he is out surfing the Alaskan swell. This summer of 2023 he is heading out to explore the Aleutian islands for a 5 part surf expedition with Alaska Surf Guides. These wild adventures are incorporated into the design and details around the Adventure Lodge.

There is more than one way to travel to and from Seward…

Before the road system existed Seward was a railroad town. Some form of a road network existed but not until November of 1923 was a wagon road developed from Seward to the south end of Kenai Lake. There were also sled roads and many people traveled to Seward through the marine waterways. (http://npshistory.com/publications/kefj/hrs/chap5.htm)

Still to this day Seward can be reached by road system, waterways, and the railroad (less on the sled dog route I think 😉)
