I am not sure a review can really communicate how special this place is. Roots Retreat embodies my favorite type of lodging--a highly-rated, clean, roadside location but that's about where it leaves the other places in the dust. This place is EXTRAORDINARY. We rented one of the little cabins and it is delightful. For such a small room it has everything (fridge, microwave and Keurig, highly effective a/c, HOT water with great pressure and perhaps the most delightful decor). We're in the Palm cabin and I feel like I am in Florida. The room is extremely clean and there are so many fun accents to the theme.

I am currently in a building that used to be a radio station and is now the community area. There's a full kitchen and a lot of seating and a free laundry room (!!!!). Outside is a pool that looks very inviting and was unexpected to find at an RV park that isn't corporate. From the bio in the room I learned this is a generational family business and the legacy is something to be so proud of because this place is so unique. I road trip for fun for a month out of the year and only stay at independently-owned properties and this one REALLY stands out as one of the best. Most are fine and good but this is kind of unbeatable.

We get to meet so many wonderful people from all over the world. A Russian scientist sketched this art piece for us and another guest saw this antique lemon piece and gave it to us. People often ask "what's going on in the little town of Seymour, Texas that Roots Retreat Seymour is always booked" ? Alot is going on around here; from world travelers just road tripping through our beautiful town, touring the 6666 Ranch near us, playing golf at the Saltfork Golf Course, enjoying some great fishing/hunting, touring the Whiteside Mueseum/ Baylor County Mueseum, mingling at our beautiful event venues, visiting/working at our wonderful hospital and participating in events at our excellent school system and much more! Also, all our turbine and solar workers. Many of our guests just stay with us for a mini vacation- that makes us feel like we are doing something great around here. Wow our community is blessed!
