Innkeeper’s Pledge
Just promising one’s very best
Indeed is not enough.
From moment portals come ajar,
You can’t rely on bluff.
No longer is a guest alike a friend,
Come home to roost,
Where runny eggs and dusty desk’s
Forgiven, with burnt toast.
But when, fiduciarily,
They pay you for some sleep,
It’s time for keepers of the house,
To guarantee their keep!
It’s business now; not personal,
For personnel’s employed
To offer what your patrons
Want; relaxing, comforts, joy.
Come one, come all! Your hosts await
With relish and aplomb.
We’ll serve you as we would ourselves,
In séance, ‘neath your palm.
Professional and courteous;
With competence and will.
Exchanging self-served accolades
With action, merit, skill.
The puddings final proof, of course,
Is found in patrons’ tomes.
And whether they return anon
To visit humble home.
