🐱🎣 Weekend Work That Actually Pays Off – Hagy’s Catfish Hotel

Looking to pad your wallet without giving up your whole week? Here’s what’s in it for you:

💵 Extra cash, fast – weekend shifts mean extra income without messing with your weekday schedule.

🍽️ Employee meals – because nobody should be hungry around all this catfish.

😄 A fun, fast-paced crew – our weekends are busy and lively, not the slow boring shift nobody wants.

🏛️ Be part of something historic – Hagy’s has been a Shiloh landmark since 1938, and we just got featured in Southern Living. You’ll be part of that story.

🌱 No experience needed – we’ll train you on everything, whether you’re looking for your first job or just some weekend pocket money.

We’re hiring a Cashier and a Bus Person for weekends — flexible, friendly, and worth your time.

There’s a special kind of pride that comes from watching someone grow up in your kitchen — and that’s exactly the story of Chris McAfee.

Chris was just 12 years old when he started working at Catfish Hotel, back when his mama, Tina, was charming guests as one of our finest waitresses, and his daddy, Johnny, was running the kitchen. They put that boy to work early, and it shows. Today, Chris is our kitchen manager, and he’s the steady hand making sure every plate goes out hot, perfect, and on time — even on the days we’re feeding a thousand people and the tickets won’t stop coming. Cool, calm, and dependable, that’s Chris.

And Tina? She’s still right here with us, still making folks feel at home all these years later.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with Anna and his kids, Baylee and Clint. Give him a free afternoon and you’ll likely find him cheering on Clint at a ballgame or out on his horse.

Thank you, Chris, for your years of hard work and for carrying on what your folks started. We’re lucky to have you.

The catfish gets all the glory.

But then that blooming onion shows up — golden, warm, smelling like a Sunday — and everybody at the table gets a little quieter for a second.

Good food has a way of doing that.

And by the way, that’s our superstar Buster back there making it all happen. 🌸

🎂 Eighty-six years young.

The Pannell family came to Hagy’s Catfish Hotel this week to celebrate a very special birthday — and we have to say, if you didn’t know better, you’d never be able to pick out the guest of honor. Everyone in this bunch looks that good.

That’s the kind of family that makes a Sunday at Hagy’s feel like a celebration all on its own.

We are so grateful you chose to spend this milestone with us. Happy 86th to your very special birthday honoree! 🙏

There’s something about a Sunday that slows the world down just enough to remember what matters.

Last week we were blessed with the company of some truly wonderful folks after church — Lisa Holt, Wayne and Sandra Eliff, and Gail Cherry. Good people, good conversation, and the kind of visit that reminds you why this old place has been here all these years.

We’re grateful. Plain and simple. 🙏

“Cult status.” Now there’s a phrase Papaw and Mamaw never expected to see attached to their catfish recipe. 😂

We’re pretty sure what they mean is: people come once, and then they just… keep coming back. Turns out golden-fried catfish, hush puppies, and a Tennessee River view will do that to you. We’re not complaining.

Come see what all the completely normal, non-cult-like fuss is about. 👇

Fried fish this good doesn't stay a secret in Tennessee for long.

🌿 The universe has a sense of humor. And apparently, it reads Southern Living. The very same week the June issue of Southern Living dropped — with Hagy’s Catfish Hotel featured inside — I was digging around in a cabinet I haven’t opened in Lord knows how long, and there it was. A Southern Living from 1982, just sitting there like it had been waiting on me.Forty-some years between those two magazines, and here I am holding them both in the same hands.I don’t believe much in coincidence. I believe in signs. Some stories are too old and too rooted to ever really end — they just keep resurfacing, like a catfish rising slow out of deep water, right when you need reminding of where you come from. What was the universe saying to me? 👇 Watch the video and tell me what you think.

Some traditions are worth the drive.

The Haggard family from Waynesboro came through our doors today…four generations together at one table. Deep Wayne County roots, and it shows. Just good, gracious people who make you feel glad for the work you do.

They’ve been coming here for years, honoring a tradition dear to the whole family. We are humbled to be part of their celebrations!

Safe travels home, Haggards. Come back soon. 🐟

🎣 We are so honored — and Southern Living made it official!

A huge thank you to Savannah’s own Brett Maverick for bringing his date to Hagy’s Catfish Hotel on FOX’s Farmer Wants a Wife — and for the kind words about our little spot on the Tennessee River. Brett, you’re welcome at our table anytime! 🤍

When you want to show someone the real South, you bring them somewhere that’s been doing it right for generations. We’re grateful Brett felt the same way.
