Before Little Sugar was Little Sugar, it was The Inn at Bella Vista.

In the decades before us, the same stone, trees, tiles and walls played host to visitors in Northwest Arkansas. People gathered by the pool in the afternoons, around the fire for special occasions and found the Inn as an escape from life in the city. While much has changed inside and out, we kept the bones, and brought this place into its next chapter of life: Campfire Ranch Little Sugar.

Your crew gets the whole place: the Bunkroom, the Loft, the Master, the living room, the deck, the sauna, the washroom, and a kitchen where we handle the meals.

Privacy in the San Juans with real beds, hot coffee, huge windows, a wood stove, host-prepared food, and enough room for everyone to play all day long and still come back to the same table.

To everyone who came out for our first winter at Lost Trail, thank you ❤️

You dealt with weird snow, deep snow, not-enough snow, late nights, early starts, creek crossings, bootpacks, snowcat bumps, long dinners, and a lodge we’re still learning how to run the right way.

We learned a lot this winter.

That getting here is part of it. That conditions matter, but they don’t get the final say. That good food goes a long way after a long day. That the people in your crew can make a trip, even when the forecast doesn’t. That Coldstream Canyon still has a lot to show us.

Mostly, we learned that this place is worth the work.

Thanks to our guests, our team ( 🤘), , and this beautiful canyon for helping us bring Lost Trail back to life this winter.

Now we’re getting ready for summer - Lost Trail reservations are officially open.

If you’ve only thought about the San Juans as a winter trip, summer might surprise you - it surprised us.

We spent our first summer weekend up here with our own crew and a lot just clicked. Backcountry privacy in a way that everyone could find their own groove. Slow mornings with . High-country cold plunges. Dinner together with all the laughs. Sauna after dark full of storytime. It was the kind of trip that gave everyone room to do their own thing and still come back together after living such busy lives.

Finding the time together is the hard part, finding the place doesn’t have to be.

Now booking summer 2026. Limited availability remaining, with only a few weekends left.

In 2003, the Friend family purchased the Thelma Lode mining claim, a stretch of wild, high alpine rolling tundra just below treeline in southwest Colorado. And in 2014 they built, as a family, the “Thelma Hut”. From welded steel, Colorado pine beetle lumber, aspen siding, custom windows & doors, endless concrete and eclectic lighting, their escape in the San Juans was born. The cabin served as a place away from it all, but with the comforts of home and the privacy only nature can provide.

In 2023, Campfire Ranch stepped in to help and steward this stunning cabin into the next chapter of it’s life. Thousands of guests later, the cabin still serves as a place to bring your “family” together, truly a 1-of-1 experience in Colorado.

There are huts, and then there is Thelma. At Campfire Ranch Red Mountain Pass we take pride in hosting ever group, cooking every meal and flipping every bed.
